I get the impression it will only be available for a limited time frame. Once the donation program ends, they will likely remove the skin from acquisition.

 

Alternatively they could indefinitely sell the skin, but always donate the proceeds.

I like the idea, the promised $250k minimum. The one thing I don't like is the T-shirt. They claim 100% of the proceeds will go to the cause, but I can't help but think they are pocketing some of the other 15 for themselves. Before Woot got bought by Amazon (and destroyed, as in I won't buy from them due to price etc) they printed their top 10 in ink screening and sold it for $12+-, TeeTurtle can sell good quality shirts for 50% off regularly, and Yetee can sell the middle type for $12, all for profit. I can't help but think they are hiding something there...

 

I was thinking about buying the shirt, but imo I think I'd be better off sending $20USD to the cause and buying a $10 tee from a site I patronize(or just buy a extra humble bundle donating the full amount), as their numbers don't add up, even if the artist took $5 per money still doesn't add up. I don't play the game but those that do and can buy the in game stuff, do so.

while I don't agree with the skepticism, I do love your thought process. Blizzard provided an opportunity for charity and while you didn't want to take that opportunity, the awareness it gave prompted you to look into other ways you can support the charity in ways that you feel appropriate. Very cool

Trust me they are likely seeing money from this, not just indirectly either... There are a thousand ways someone as big as them can sneak in costs to justify a $15 cost of a tee.

 

Care to explain to me how VistaPrint can charge $14 for 16 ink color shirt? Sure shipping to them, but at 20 units I got it knocked down to $13, imagine 10,000 units or even at just 500.

 

I knew of other ways of supporting them, I didn't need to look into it(I had to search HB for them, which was annoying due to a bad search function). For example you can go threw Paypals charity fund (and get a tax receipt, which they will get for the difference if they don't get 250k worth of donations, they still might one anyways for the full value which is why you require to purchase something), then if you go to TeeTurtle you buy this shirt for the women you're thinking about while donating. Also put the tax receipt in her name.

This skin looks nothing like the base skin except for the character's face. They've also added visual affects to the bullets of Mercy's gun, in addition to some cosmetic adjustments to a highlight intro. Her ultimate now plays a harp song as well, with this skin equipped.

 

These changes are significant because Blizzard has never made any skin visually impact the way a hero's abilities look, and have never changed the sound effects for any abilities, except for Lucio with his Jazzy skin.

Even if for some reason you don't care about BCRF or donating to any charity, the skin is worth the money if you play this hero and want something truly unique.

And here I was thinking I would never play Mercy again, but now a damn skin has convinced me to do a climb to GM with Mercy.

 

I also love that Blizzard included streamers for this event. I think within the first two days, Cupccake and QueenE raised something like $60k, I'm curious what a more popular streamer like Emongg might do.

So far all indications point to Sony's cut ($2.87 GBP out of a $12.99 GBP Skin - the rest of the $10.12 GBP is being donated) is the VAT portion of the price.

 

Now, as far as I'm aware, VAT is 20% in the UK, but the discrepancy is 22%.

 

All Sony has really said is they're not making any profit off of the skin, so that $2.87 GBP must be costs of doing business in some fashion. Personally I would like Sony to make a statement clarifying exactly where the $2.87 GBP is going, just to appease those who think Sony is being underhanded somehow.
