AMD Combat Crates

AMD has partnered with some manufactures to bring a cpu+gpu+mobo bundle where they are calling it AMD Combat Crates. MSI is one of the partners and the bundle includes a MSI B350 motherboard, MSI RX580 Armor graphic card, and an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or Ryzen 7 1700 cpu. So far Amazon's market place has one at a price of $599.

Thats a really cool idea, I think some people will appreciate that, especially clearing up confusion of what graphics card goes with what etc. Good on AMD.

AMD just took NVIDIA's PC Gaming Revival Kit and did it better.  It's reasonably priced (unlike NVIDIA's), and does not include a shitty Corsair SSD.

Make what parts you get random, and make the boxes a set amount (around $300?).

You could get a reasonable set of parts for that amount, or you could get lucky and get a Threadripper CPU and a Vega FE.

• 85$ for mobo
• 250$ for gpu pre-mining (300$ currently due to mining)

Where are you getting 300 dollars? The cheapest 8 gig Armor is going for 327 on amazon and that's on sale. When not on sale the combat crates are pretty equivalent in price to the current market, except come all at the same time from a single vendor which in theory means significantly less chance of any parts(rally just the motherboard or video card) being DOA.

How does this make DOA any less likely? Do they do quality control at the individual level and then again for the pack level? I would guess they just do quality control at the part level and if they pass they put them in the package deal.

Price of gpu was quite high last month or soz which does make this battle crate a lot more attractive. As of now it's expensive by $20 bucks or so.

I'm using 300$ in case you find one for 300$, which shouldn't be impossible. Even at 330$, this case isn't a good deal, basically.

I don't think the box is supposed to represent a good price, just convenience and a marketing thing.  I don't think there is enough fat in the product chain  to reduce the price further than they already are in general.

What do you have?  The 1060 isn't terrible but they use the same cooler on the 1070 (just useable) 1080 (not even close to capable) and 1080 ti (laughably bad at this point)
