Google has said it is a GT 220.

According to Techpowerup, it's a Tesla-based card. Old enough to not have the GX### core string.

Interesting. So as a GT220 at this point it's really only good for use as a basic display adapter or for old XPish era games.

Well, I can't confirm 100% it's a 7570 as there is nothing saying as such on the card but my Google-foo does point to it being one. Numbers on the board match up to cards on ebay that are listed as 7570s though, so I would say perhaps 95% certainty.

With enough ram it is amazing what you can get by with for basic use. For web browsing a GPU I wouldn't expect to make much difference anyway unless you got into video playback. I like the smaller form factor systems but struggle at the same time as low profile parts are harder to find and if anything dies parts can be an issue.

Modern web though isn't all that kind when it's just a lowly Pentium 4 trying to render absolutely everything. It's honestly a miracle Vista actually has some form of built-in driver for the 82865G in this thing right now (which means I might at least have some help rendering Windows' UI), I have to imagine the lil P4 would be struggling even more with the Microsoft basic display adapter driver.

Oh well, just gotta knuckle on the parental a bit more to get something for this old brute.

Does it have a riser card allowing it to take full size cards or does it need the low profile ones? Could probably find a low profile card off ebay that would work well for fairly cheap if need be

Here is an old video card that I have found out is apparently fairly rare... An ATI Rage Fury MAXX. Basically, two Rage 128's on a single card. I've been having issues getting the drivers to play nice though. I was wanting to set it up in my Slot A Athlon build but under Windows 98SE after I install the drivers and reboot the computer would hang after the Win98 splash screen, as soon as the background colour and cursor appeared. I had installed the motherboard drivers including the AGP drivers and upgraded to DirectX 9c. I tried before upgrading to 9c as well but just couldn't seem to get it not to hang.

My school has all 8th gen Intel workstations.

I imagine in 2-3 years they'll be replaced - Core i5-8400, 2x4GB DDR4 2666?, Quadro P620.

Fine for now. Probably not in 2024.

Hoping I can snag one or two.

There is the option of a riser card that breaks out to two full-height PCI slots, but actually finding one is a big ol nope. I've had my peepers peeled on and off for the past 5 years and haven't seen a single one.

I do have a low-pro capable card in a pinned tab that I should be able to convert to low profile though. It's currently got a full-height bracket but it looks like the DVI port is in the same spot as my HD7570 that I don't use so I might just rob the bracket from that. Now I just have to circle back to the parentals thing. 😣

This thing has an AT power connector on it, and enough Molex plugs to choke two horses and have one plug left over!

TWO floppy power plugs and two fans, one of which is motherboard-controllable!

Actually the fan lead is to feed a PSU fan monitor on some old boards that had or needed that. It could shut the system off so the PSU didn't catch fire if the fan stopped because that was a thing that used to happen. That PSU is relatively safe even by modern standards. You'd need two wires to control a 3 wire fan, the + and the - and the 3rd wire is just speed sense.

You forgot the free bungie, best part of the whole deal!

I figure the switch would come in handy if you end up with a bunch of PCs all running and need to share stuff or have a lan party with retro games. Fear does support local multiplayer...I think! Nope ok but I think it can with some mods from ModDB.

4-port USB 2.0 PCI card

Oh I just noticed this, time to be a smartass but also helpful. Technically it's a 7 port card since it has the front panel connector on it. Fair warning though since I just recently got the same card for my current XP rig: The front panel ports don't provide enough power for something like a portable/2.5" HDD. Can't quite remember if the rears do or not, but I'm pretty sure they do.

Speeds also aren't too bad. I was getting something along the lines of 17MB/s which is a hell of a lot better than the 1.1 speeds I was dealing with before.

It's probably not going to be used for awhile (the 2 USB ports I have in my P3 system is fine since I have a PS/2 keyboard and mouse) but if I ever need more, it's going in.

Good news and bad news V2:
Good news:
The system is working fine, all my HDDs detect and work, and my floppy drives work too. I get sound from my sound card, though I would like the full drivers once I find the CD.

Bad news:
1. A floppy drive has passed from the earth.

It served me well, but gave up today with a screech and a ruined disk (though it wasn't important, it was acting weird so I gave it a blank disk to format)

2. I have reached an impasse with setting it up.

The optical drive @Bitter gave me gives me "Incorrect operation on drive D:\.", and my other IDE optical drive doesn't work (it makes a sneezing noise when I try and use it, and all the disks I put in say "The disk is not formatted. Want to format it now?"

I could transfer files via my PCI Ethernet card, but to get it to work, I need to get it drivers via a CD.

Transferring ~800MB of files over USB 1.1 is PAINFUL, though.

Estimated time 14 minutes?

Anyway, pics coming (hopefully) tomorrow since it's getting late and once I install drivers it's time for bed.

It will have the SCSI optical drive in it since black doesn't look great, but know that that won't be the final optical drive.
