I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

But then that literally goes back to my original argument of OEM’s not needing vacuum pumps..

Probably a safety standard or something? Idk. Most diesels have a vacuum pump because diesels don't make vacuum since they don't have a traditional throttle that limits air flow.

i've looked at reviews on the fusion and it seems like people have issues with the 6 speed auto, from sucky acceleration to misshifting to even full on trans failure, but of course those are only a select few. and this isn't for me lol it's for my dad :P

It's a Ford/GM colab trans so if it has issues, a LOT of other cars will too. A lot of popular cars. Also, the people with bad experiences will always be loudest. But definitely a factor.

I noticed you swapped tail lights as well. I couldn't personally stand the Amber on my car so I went for Euro spec indicators

Definitely suits some cars more than others. On the E36 clear turn signals were an option, so you would see a mix of both on the roads. For your Saab, none of the euro cars came with ambers, so to me that looks really odd, you did the right thing. Love the tinted foglights too ?

@Monkey Dust Cheers buddy, it's Techno Violet ? It's a very lighting dependant colour, it loves direct sunlight and fluorescent lighting. Like multi storey car parks or gas stations. But otherwise it looks really flat, doesn't pop at all.

There are only a handful of factory bmw colours I like more, mostly just because they're appealing more of the time. Estoril and Atlantis blue for example, look great even at night or in indirect light. Techno flounders in those situations.

@CharminUltraStrong How do people manage to import R34's to North America, when they're still not legal? I've heard of grey market importing but don't enitely know what that entails, or if its how they get around things.

My my dirt cheap 03 Audi A8 D3 just passed the inspection and I can now drive it. I fixed the rear right brake yesterday, I had to buy VCDS to set the EPB in service mode and slowly pushed the brake cylinder in, as it was stuck in out position, I then pumped the brake pedal and pushed it in a little further. I repeated this a few times until I could easily push it in.

It is now working mechanically, now is all the electrical problems left. I did a scan with VCDS and got a long list I've to go through.

I'll post some pictures after I wash it later today.

Was at USC 2016 showing off the lighting being controlled by a tablet. I love the aggressive front but not too keen on the rest.

Hopefully I'll going to this year's USC too, you been to pod much? You're a lot closer than I am!

@Ross Siggers Because of our 25 year import law, most will import bodies which IS legal and put them on a legal Nissan. I didn't get to question him much but it's probably an R34 body with a kit to fit on an R32. If that's not it, he might've imported all the parts and built it under a legal Nissan VIN? Who knows. Florida doesn't have real car inspection laws here and everything goes. So it could've been approved as one car and then completely altered into a new one with none of the alterations being reported since he doesn't have to.

@CharminUltraStrong tha's fucked up...

But interesting! The whole rebodied Skyline thing is odd, but then the fact that it's possible is cool. Here in the UK they're a lot stricter regarding serious modification like that, the only real way to do such a thing is to buy a certified kit car based on an existing cars chassis

I actually flat traded my US spec indicators to someone in Sweden and we both just paid shipping. I guess the amber was cool to them since they didn't get it and vice versa here

I left the fog lights untinted for a long while and decided the front looked a little bland. Need to redo them eventually with some actual good film, not just cheap ebay stuff. I had also originally just plastidipped the grill just to see if the black suited it. Ended up properly painting it when I put on the roofrack bars and the tinted foglights

IIRC a few years back there was a company that (legally) imported R33s into the US and converted them to a US-legal spec.

They also imported R32s and R34s but they told the government they were still importing R33s which eventually led to them getting shut down by the government.

The more likely option is it's been rebodied though.

Apparently something to do with it was illegal and the US government shut them down but the R34s that they imported were then allowed to stay in the US.

I'm not sure if that's 100% true though.

Yeah it's impossible to make them US legal so if that did happen it was definitely illegal. You can't make a VIN US legal unfortunately, they only care about the numbers on your VIN.

VINs are the main issue with imported cars in the US. Most DMVs just put the VIN as something like 00000000000000000 or they add a few zeros to the end of the current VIN.

One thing that surprised me is that the rebodied cars are legal. It's weird to me but the rules are the rules.

The reason it's legal is that the US doesn't see the body as something that's of structural or mechanical importance to the vehicle from what I can tell. So putting an R34 body on a legal Nissan is the same thing as a kit car/body kit under the eyes of the law.

I haven't had that, I don't use it to diag just check IM, clear codes post repair, reset oil lights, quick stuff where I don't want to lug out the $10,000 machine or whatever it costs.

We use the matco one to program keys because the honda scan tool is so slow / buggy. Last week I did a warranty seat belt buckle, it took me longer to get the scan tool to clear SRS codes than to install it. Its a less than a year old laptop too.
