Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

The s600 is deffinitly a car that falls into that catagory. If you're not familiar with the motor that is :P. Seriously, the sound that come out of this thong is insane!

Agreed, the M120 in that thing is an amazing motor. BUT the only downside of this setup is that the custom headers required to alter the pitch of the engine are custom hand-made, and from what I could tell when I looked 2 years ago they are only sourced in Japan. Same company that did it to the S600 also did it to the Audi S8, which shared the same V10 as that generation Gallardo. Same result - epic noise from a luxury sedan.

But yeah, those headers weren't cheap.

and tbh i really don't care. as long as the quality of the sound and the video is good, i could care less. i actually prefer it this way, so it's all in one place.

there is the bmw 850 which can sound nearly identical to a mclaren f1. The F1's motor was based of the same 12 that came in the bmw 8 series.

yeah, headers for a motor like that are almost always going to be custom made to order. Amazing either way. Also, that vid sounds so much better without all the compression.

Goddamn, it's been a while since I checked up n TGS. As you can imagine, they specialize in exotic fabrication for V10s and V12s, with their clients usually bringing in some Italian stuff. I vaguely recall them doing a custom setup for a 599 and a Zonda, among others.

Here's their header set for a Diablo. Gorgeous.

I always knew that altering the geometry of headers could change the pitch of an engine, but damn I never thought it could be taken this far. TGS' 599 GTB setup makes it sound like the old V8 F1 cars with the 18,000 rpm engines.

Also call me crazy, but at WOT I actually think it's louder than the 599XX I filmed last year (it's not an Evo, unfortunately).

Off topic;

Mustang Matt ordered an HTC vive after our VR experience at the little LAN party. He's excited. He already put tons of stuff on Craigslist that he doesn't need and rearranged his room so he has a big free space for VR stuff. xD

he has a single GTX 970. Best upgrade route for VR? Another 970? Different card? Wait for pascal/Polaris? We already determined he will need a second 970 at the least (if multiple cards works for VR... I hope it does)

this is has got me excited too. Can't wait to try it with the higher resolution and all unlike the DK2 which was quite pixel-y.

New card for sure, but depending on what batch he gets the vive probably wont arrive for another few months. By that time hopefully Nvidia would have held their conference and unveiled big/small pascal, and he can make an upgrade decision then. Right now, official Vive support for racing titles is pretty sparse but is looking to mature.

But for now, best to save up the funding.

The vive can be easily made to work with rift stuff so it'll work with project cars at the least which is all you really need to be honest. Gorgeous game. Easy to get immersed into it. (But I think pcars supports the vive anyway because we hit the "outside sources" button in the oculus software and enabled VR in steam and it launched pcars in VR mode (steam said it was VR mode, so it looked like steamVR was "controlling" it, guess we will see)

War thunder will also be amazing too xD maybe FSX with graphical modifications :o

I'll let him know to wait on the GPU for now, and yes he's aware that it will be a few months.

Hes supoosedly selling a couple grand worth of stuff.(I don't even know where he found all of that lol) So he has the cash lol. But of course he'd like to pocket some of it and not spend it all.

Wait until new cards then get whatever is top of the line. Multicard issues+VR don't sound fun.

man fuck my life. i really hate procrastination, yet i do it all the fucking time. i have some stupid significant works form for this book, as well as a 4 page essay due wednesday. and it just so happens installing the new garage door opener took 2 fucking days. so no time to work on either one. man, fuck my life. if my teacher allowed late work, even for half credit, i would be happy. too fucking bad he says no LATE WORK AT ALL.

Still deciding between the 2016 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack and the 2016 Subaru Outback 3.6R Premium. For us the Passat will cost $5000 more than the Outback but has better safety and driver assist systems, seats, torque, and more. More pics (with comments): http://imgur.com/a/YQpRP

i prefer the passat tbh. i've actually never seen the wagon passat in a long time. probably fucking volkswagen axed it. man more and more companies seem to axe wagons for the american market even though they are way more practical than a stupid sedan.

Just skipped the last ~6-7 pages of this thread because I didn't want to see any F1 spoilers from the Chinese GP yesterday. Was an awesome race, to say the least. :)

Daniil Kvyat is one to watch. That kid has talent and balls. Vettel was trying to give him some "advice" after the race regarding Kvyat's aggressive lap one turn one maneuvers but Kvyat was unfazed. lol.

The "indecent".

The conversation after the race.

I think Vettel was just letting off a little steam and looking to place blame. Everyone was racing hard into turn one and there's only so much room. I don't think Kvyat was at fault for going for the gap at all.

Could have been worse. Kvyat was lucky he didn't pull a Porsche.
