Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I don't think it's about difficulty starting as much as it is excessive wear because the oil is too thick to flow and lubricate well.

Yeah I have no problems starting my truck, though even if you do that’s what block heaters and glow plugs are for, but they’re more to help With fuel viscosity than oil, since diesel fuel is basically light weight oil lol. Also, the area I live in (Bay Area) doesn’t get cold enough to warrant lighter oils, but if it did, I’d get 5w-40 instead of 10w-30

Yesterday, I got to drive my aunt's Mustang, which is actually the second American car i've ever driven. It's the base model with the turbocharged Inline-4 engine with an automatic transmission, but it was still pretty fun! Her name is Blue Betty in case anybody wanted to know.

No I live in America, it's just that nearly everybody in my family drives japanese cars... The only people who drive american cars are my aunt and grandparents, but I don't get to see them very often because they live kind of far away.

well it's not so much driving like a maniac on the road (please don't) but being able to have fun on a nice twisty road on a beautiful day is quite nice.

That said.. I do kinda treat every turn as if im on an autocross course sometimes(especially roundabouts)...not like screeching tires or anything too crazy but i take em quickly. (if its clear) to me its normal at this point lol

but yeah the prius is a good little commuter, especially in town where it makes good use of the electric motor. On the highway... not as much. to me it's only worth it if you use the electric portion a lot, otherwise just get an old corolla or something.

My highway MPG is like, 50 or so. I wish it were set up to get optimal mileage at a speed higher than 60 some mph because I do like driving at around 70. Dunno whether that's more of a function of it being a small car than a hybrid though, I think the biggest advantage of the prius is that when you sit in traffic, you're not burning gas at all.

@terrytek I do occasionally drive obnoxiously slow, but is it really obnoxiously slow if you're the only one on the road? :P

I can tell you why people do that though, they have this little bar which shows your usage of the electric and gas motors, as well as when you're charging the battery from regenerative braking and so on. It's honestly really interesting to look and and very tempting to only use the electric. Of course, you go at about 20 mph and accelerate slower than a person running when you do that, so I try to avoid looking at it too much. It's smart marketing but I kinda wish they hadn't included it because I were even the slightest bit more OCD...

Sorry for the tag, I messed up the quoting stuff.

my opinion is worthless but i'm going to give it anyway because this is the internet

I haven't had my license for that much of a long time, but I've only driven one american made car and that was the car I took my driver's test in. Driven several japanese cars and a few german ones though. Idk, if you don't own one and no one in your family owns one, you don't really end up driving a lot of other cars unless your friends really like you.

Today I found out how to tighten the throttle cable on my car, and it was a bit more loose than I expected. There was about a centimeter of dead zone on the throttle pedal before it actually started opening the plate in the throttle body, and that means the engine wasn't making full power when the pedal was on the floor. I also got a new PCV valve, so the engine should run more smoothly once I install it.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
