Okay, off topic post over.  You may now resume your regularly scheduled rumor speculation.

I don’t know, that’s what Nvidia chose.

Is their any semi creditable source besides he said she said?

Nvidia hasn't stated anything about the Ampere GPU naming scheme, 20XX is just pure speculation. We even can't be sure if the architecture's name will really be Ampere.

I'm expecting a 20-30% bump in efficiency/performance.

Reuters just said that NVIDIA new GPU gaming chip will be named Turing. There's a possibility they will release 2 series - 1 for mining and 1 for gaming.

The new GPU gaming chip, code named Turing, is expected to be unveiled next month.

I  want a new launch so I can scoop a couple up direct from NV's shop.  I'm rolling a single Maxwell Titan X, having sold the second one to cash in on the GPU price inflation, and that just isn't good enough for 144hz.

My hope is that GA100/2 gets launched first, really mad that they started being assholes with the product stack starting with kepler.

AKA Give me a GTX 2080 that is a full fat GA100

Any chance we're going to get this at or close to MSRP?

Or will Nvidia change their slogan to "Nvidia The Way It's Meant To Be Mined" ?

It would be at MSRP if you are to buy the founders edition cards or other graphics cards that may cost the same. It wouldn't be inflated due to having enough in stock at launch.

Kinda off-topic

What are they gonna call their GPUs after they reach the 100-series?  If the next one really is the 20-series,  reaching 100 is much closer than ever before.

Now that you mention it. It doesn’t seem like a great idea.
