Ps4 vs pc in real world usage? Does it really make that much of a difference?

Hello, how are you? 

So, I am a pc gamer and of course I know the pc is way superior. 

But I am wondering when you are actually playing a game, how much of a difference is there? 

I know the pc in ultra settings has better graphics, but if you are playing doom, or call of duty when you are strafing and trying to shoot enemies or if you are playing rise of the tomb Raider and trying to do jumps and kill enemies, how much do you actually notice those differences?

I think the first performance boost would be the shorter delay between PC and monitor than PS4 and TV. Additionally, console games aim for what, 45 fps or something like that? They don't really need to be faster than the average TV is going to display them.

 

But as @QuantumBitstated, the PC you have would definitely provide a better answer.

Fidelity doesn't help unless it's draw distances and stuff like that. What you are going to get is higher frame rates which will help you a lot

I find myself using the PS4 a lot more, as the downloads are faster and I have friends on it.

Also no messing around with games, they either run @ 30fps or 60fps.

 

 

Though my PC is used a lot for RTS games and I couldn't find any on the PS4/XBOX.

I find it easier to relax on console. PC sits you upright and basically forces you to be in top gear mode with mouse and keyboard.

Honestly , it mostly comes down to framerate. 30FPS just doesn't cut it for me, and many ps4 games run at that framerate.

 

I use a controller anyway , so ease of use is the same , but i like the versatility of the pc.

I'm essentially incapable of using controllers outside of the classic NES  and Wiimote, I was more or less raised on a keyboard and mouse.

 

So for that main reason, I prefer PC. Plus a lot of good PC games cost a lot less than good console games.

But surely that would depend on game genre, wouldn't it?  For FPS, RTS or 4X, sure, keyboard and mouse is king.  I'd argue it's kinda either way for third person games.  Meanwhile though for platformers, racing/driving games, flight games, SHMUPs, fighting and other arcade games and the like are superior with a gamepad (Or arcade stick)

I much prefer PS4 for most games because every game needs to be controller compatible. In all of my playing, KB+M is not better in any way to a decent controller, in most games, including first person shooters. I mostly play indie games on PC.

I've been able to get through a lot of platformers with a keyboard, and I'm not really into simulators or anything like that enough to actually play them.

One reason I gone back to console, way less headache to just run a game.

I usually only play Minecraft and Cities: Skylines on my PC.  The rest on console.

Plus, once I am done with a game for a console, I just resell it off.

 

On playing a game, usually I am way into playing it to be bother about reaction times or FPS.  Unless there is super huge noticeable issues.  I actually prefer a game to run nice and solid over trying to run the darn thing balls to the wall.  On the issue of input for the game, I am super flexible.  I will use either a controller or mouse+kb since I grew up using both and using NES, SNES, Dreamcast, Xbox, PS1, PS2, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U and Switch controllers.  (Though that Dreamcast controller was huge).

uhh you can use gamepad for PC too, its not limited to just KB &M

i prefer PC, the fact that you can do multiple things on PC is the biggest reason why. Gaming, Writing, Social Media, Photo editing, programming, downloading, etc

Bloodborne on ps4 is notorious for having performance hiccups. but it doesn't matter because the gameplay and lore are so good

i'm not sure what you meant by hardcore but my gamepad is just plug and play. literally that and no issue

i use my gamepad to simply play certain genres like racing, fighting, platformer and hack and slash

Yeah it’s the middle of the night haha. 

 

My pc is setup at a desk. So for me it’s setup for proper posture and all, and opening games needs the mouse. With the console setup for controller only use, it’s way easier to slouch and lay down to play. Steam does have big picture mode so I can’t really argue. 

 

Youre right, I’m just not used to using the system that way. I’ve played all of Space Marine, shadow of Mordor, and spec ops the line with only a controller on pc. So I can vouch it’s compatibility. The console just .. idk, is more tailored to the controller for a relaxing experience as opposed to all the mkb games I have on steam.

I usually mute everyone and play free for all. But solo games are fun too. Haven’t played any new console games in a while. Mostly playing old halo games on og Xbox and 360.

Ultra settings are overrated.  And to be honest, for gaming, I prefer PS4's clean interface over the clusterf*** of Windows anyday.  However, I can use my PC for plenty of other things that I wasn't able to use my PC for such as music production.  

One big benefit of PC gaming is a framerate of 60 (rather than 30).

I've pretty much stopped at the PS2 as far as home consoles go. I don't have much of an issue using a PC for a media center. Controller works flawless for many PC games, and emulated titles. Even Kodi works just fine with a controller. I do have a wireoess keyboard as well for the PC interacting, but I can effectively use my PC from bed.

 

Though as I've a limited budget, the versatility of PCs gets me far more use than any single gaming console.

 

Speaking of consoles, I thought the OUYA was an intriguing concept, though I think a Raspberry PI with a custom TV-oriented OS would do far better, not to mention the PI 3's GPU is actually better than Tegra 3.

well not really (i get your point)..... but the xbox one x beats most if not all new systems at its pricepoint especially with the rise in prices.
