A motherboard by Colorful

 Colorful, those who makes those graphic cards with them crazy design coolers, decided to make a motherboard. The board will runs on 1151, with so-dimm, 8x physical x16 slots, and bunch of pegs, to give extra power to them x16s slot. Just make sure your psu has enough for the board and your gpus! Only the 1st x16 is wired to the cpu, rest are wired to the b250 chipset. I/o is minimal, just usb, hdmi, and lan. No price on it yet and it's most likely used for cryptomining.

I wonder why they didn't just go for 50 x1 slots instead of 8 x16 slots... seems like a waste of space considering its purpose.

I think I prefer ASUS's one, it's better. It can wire 3 PSUs together on it's own.

I think you're blaming the symptom, not the disease. I mine with help from my brother because if I didn't have my Mother's income I literally could not afford to work at my job. Is it so wrong that I find any means by which to survive just because it inconveniences some gamers? Why don't you go blame capitalism for forcing us to seek new markets to fill even if they're a pure waste of human resources?

Its just the idea that its a made up currency that some how got value from wasting power to solve a question thats answer has no valuable use for months just to toss the hardware used because it was overworked and then repeated. Just an endless pointless circle that require no interaction to make money...none...while people who actually work get paid less in some cases.

 

Folding I can see as its helping solve life saving issues but yet you dont get paid for it. But mining literally has no purpose but to waste power and pay people for it.

TBH this could only be useful for something like 8 gamers 1 CPU, where every card needs full bandwidth.

I'd also love to see this on a HEDT platform, so every slot can get higher speeds (threadripper could give every slot a true X8 connection)

I'd like to see what kind of F@H work could be done on something like this. Get some 1080 Ti's and a bunch of power supplies. Bet it'd beat my i5 2400.

Full bandwidth on what? The chipset is only wired 4-8x or so to the CPU, so the 16x is just idiotic. Even for mining this weird board makes no sense. So dimm? Aren't more expensive? Are all those 8 pin PCI power sockets, pass throughs? Each PCIe port can only do 75w anyways.

Wonder why they used full length PCIe slots when you only need x1 slots for mining. Doesn't make sense to me.
