Swedish ISP has to block tpb and swefilmer

Today Bredbandsbolaget, a Swedish ISP lost in supreme court and has to block all access to both thepiratebay and Swefilmer.

I have not used tpb in years since there are better places to find content that i cant buy anywhere.

Norwegian ISPs had to do the same for a year ago or more. But much more than just The Pirate Bay. but its super easy getting around it. like, you dont even need a VPN :)

Ah, the good old days. Nowadays its pretty useless, risky and lacks content on most cases. 

 

Only movies and music will be worthwhile taking, videogames not at all anymore from wherever it is.

did't the Duch do this a couple off years ago and concluded that it doesn't work. (i forgot what the real reason for lifting the ban was bespite the fact that i live there)

I wonder what kind of block it will be.

DNS block? lol that will stop any moderately tech-savvy person for... 15 seconds maybe.

IP block? Way too costy and hard to keep up-to-date.

Packet inspection? Yeah right...

 

I think it's time we should just kill the Swedish media industry. Seriously, they don't make anything good and because they are so shit we have things like the "copyswede". I literally have to pay a special "copying fee" on USB memory sticks, phones, hard drives and even floppy disks because "it can be used for copying things". The fee then gets distributed to things like Swedish musicians.

Telenor went out during TPB case and told hollywood to shove it regarding lobbying work for "allowing IP owners to demand the info of IP infringers the second they got a IP-adress of them breaching the IP copyright laws"...

 

IP = Intellectual Property 

 

Scandinavian ISPs simply doesnt care.

I'd like to see some sources for the IP block since TPB is using cloudflare a IP block isn't really viable since it will block out a loot more than just TPB. And if you read one of the pr release from Bredbandsbolaget it states that

Basically meaning that the ruling will not have any significant impact because the sites can just create new domains.

I haven't had time nor access to read the verdict but according to some random website the verdict contains upwards to 100 urls that has to be blocked.

 

And something to remember is that this verdict will not only affect Bredbandsbolaget but all Swedish ISPs.

Well yes and no: Seemingly this is the case but I say that this has little to do with the court battles and persecussion and a hell of a fucking lot more to do with the rapid growth of digital distribution.

 

In other words: once services like Netflix offered a compelling on demand service to customers a lot of the drive for piracy simply banished. Like GabeN said if the pirate has a superior product they'll prosper no matter what but nowadays? Well Steam, Netflix, Youtube, Amazon direct and Twitch, etc. All have risen in popularity quite a bit.

 

I am more inclined to think that this has a lot more substance than the stupid war on piracy for the torrenting decline.
