I don't think that's got anything to do with it, it's just a shitty port that needs work

When I played the demo, HBAO+ and shadows would cripple your GPU. Even the frame limiter would chop your frame rate if kept on unlimited, I think.

Maybe that's why the preset benchmarks look so wonky.

Game runs fine for me. I'm just very upset that there isn't any VR support on pc. I played vr on ps4 and it was a whole other level of scary.

I just hope if Capcom don't add it, the community manages to mod in support for the Vive.

I'm getting pretty solid 70-80fps, sometimes dipping to 50-60fps, while running at 1080p with mostly high settings on a GTX 670.

Only things turned down are reflections and shadows.

Man, good thing this wasn't out at the RX 480 launch.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - that RX 480 keeps showing up in places it shouldn't... However, there is definitely some optimisation issues with this game on release.

Something is very wrong when the RX 480 beats out a Fury X........

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

It's funny because if AMD perform poorly in general the comments would've been something along the lines of "What can you say, it's AMD's garbage drivers  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ " Yet since it's Nvidia in this case let's blame the company that ran benchmark tests.

I haven't run across the source for the information but I've seen a lot of people say that VR support for it will be coming next year. It sounds like Sony paid for timed-exclusive VR support, which is a whole new level of utter bullshit.

It's not that it's Nvidia. It's that even superior AMD cards are losing to inferior AMD cards. The RX 480 loses to a GTX 1070 in nearly every title, and mostly competes with a 1060, yet is actually close to a GTX 1080. It's beating out the Fury X by a large margin, and the 1070 is losing to a 470 in this title, a $170 GPU.

If this was reversed, nobody would bat an eye because it would be normal. After all, none of us are surprised with a $400 GPU beats a $170 GPU, but we are certainly shocked to see it the other way around.

Very odd indeed. Possible Fury X VRAM limit huh. Though it's interesting seeing how R9 390(X) compare with RX 480 though. My R9 290 would probably perform great then. I've seen it beating RX 480 the first benchmarks when it launched here and there, then read about differences and saw that in some parts sometimes the one and sometimes the other is better.

That's doubtful since the RX 470 performs just the same until you're hitting the higher resolutions. It's more likely that the drivers were optimised for the second generation of GCN and Polaris since most users are running those with the third gen only covering the Fury and 380.

CPU - Ryzen Threadripper 2950X | Motherboard - X399 GAMING PRO CARBON AC | RAM - G.Skill Trident Z RGB 4x8GB DDR4-3200 14-13-13-21 | GPU - Aorus GTX 1080 Ti Waterforce WB Xtreme Edition | Case - Inwin 909 (Silver) | Storage - Samsung 950 Pro 500GB, Samsung 970 Evo 500GB, Samsung 840 Evo 500GB, HGST DeskStar 6TB, WD Black 2TB | PSU - Corsair AX1600i | Display - DELL ULTRASHARP U3415W |

The performance difference wouldn't be this large though...

The Rx 470 (4GB) and 480 (8GB) both perform as close as you would expect them to if they were running any other game so I'm not sure what you're referring to. The Fury also seems to scale better into higher resolutions which would contradict that and suggests that it's just being under-utilised, which is nothing new really.

GPU that not much better than a GTX 980 in all other games (or eual to it) shouldn't be performing any where near as good or better than a:

  • Titan X
  • 980ti
  • GTX 1070
  • Fury X
  • Nano (FuryX that thermal throttles hard)
  • Fury

At any resolution.
