And there are extra fans, that's dope!

I know a lot of people will want them in different colors, or do like linus and paint them :)

But only theirs will work. The fan has uses a direct plug in connector.

Better to buy their own fans than having to replace the card itself :)

Sorry this took so long, but here you go:

<image>

And the video (sorry about portrait mode, I was in a hurry ):

<video>

The five +12v pins on the pci-e connector are connected to an internal power plane in the board that can handle loads of 20-30amps. The pins on the slot are rated for 1.1 amps each, and the RX480 draws 1.5 amps per pin. This isn't enough to cause problems.

What are you trying to prove with that video? That power goes from the 24-pin connector to the PCIe slot? We already knew that. It doesn't prove that it goes straight to it though, and even if it does there is still a risk for damage.

Your numbers are even worse than mine. How can you possibly say with certainty that pushing 36% more power though a connector than it was rated for won't cause any problems?

Anyway, on topic:

Looks good but damn that price... 250 pounds.

Looking forward to seeing how much difference better power delivery and better cooling will do to the RX 480.

If it can bring the card close to a 980 thanks to a good overclock, the price isn't that bad :)

Hey, wrong thread.  There is a 30+ page for the topic of bad power delivery.

Let's just pretend I saw that there is a page three, and I did not quote a post from over an hour ago.   :|

It's less the price of the reference card in France :P it's 259€ here so I guess it'll be 300€ maximum.

How fortunate! I'm really surprised to be honest. There was a reference sapphire one for 220 :o

What gives me hope is that reference sapphire are cheaper than the other reference card, so maybe they want yo make their non reference cards at the price of the expensive reference cards, which would be amazing !

I don't think launch prices are that relevant. What's relevant are what  the cards costs today. Today you can get a reference GTX 970 for 200 pounds (66 USD less) or a custom cooler one from MSI for 210 pounds (53 USD less).

So the price is not good, but my guess is that it will be better in the US.

Well it does you're getting same performance at the same launch price a year later that's not competitive at all.

390 Is still the way to go atm anyway.

Please stop quoting that garbage. The 960 DOES NOT DO WHAT THE 480 DOES. Spike in power of 1 millisecond does not matter. SUSTAINED power draw is what matters and only the 480 does it.

Just give it up, the dyhard amd fans will just ignore your post and pretend the rx480 is the best card that ever came out of a factory.

let them buy the card and damage their boards first then they will actually wake up to why AMD's market share is so small.
