332 USD fuck that. UK is feeling that leave vote consequences quick.

The price isn't related to Brexit. It's the same all across Europe (and apparently some other parts of the world like NZ as well).

Overclockes.co.uk have stated the price in the UK was affected by Brexit.

The 8GB 480 was supposed to launch at £199 with them; but due to the Pound losing value the price had to increase as a result. Leaving us with 480's ranging from £219-239 for reference models.

Yes things are usually more expensive outside of the EU, and places take advantage of that to gouge us more, but the UK was affected recently as well; making it worse.

Hi there

Well $239 / 1.45 = £165 x 20% VAT = just shy of £200, yes the plan was to hit £199 with 8G !!! NO CHANCE NOW!

But now $239 / 1.31 = £182 x 20% VAT = near as dammit £220.

£20 increase on such a low price part because we left EU, on cards such as 1080 the price increase is simply too saddening.

Come on UK, sort it out, get the pound back upto at least 1.40 your ruining the economy!

But that does not explain why other counties are getting such poor prices. The UK pricing right now are fairly in line with what you will find in other EU countries.

I wouldn't be surprised if many EU country sales are upping their prices to keep it inline with the UK one, as it means more profits for them.

I'm in Ireland, and I'm very use to being horribly gouged here by retailers, and as such usually buy from the UK at a vastly cheaper rate myself.

Over here at a popular online retailer the Asus Strix 8GB 390 costs €427, yet I recently paid £259 with shipping for the Sapphire 390X 8G Nitro card in the UK. Thats €118 cheaper for a much better card.

EU prices, and those of the Oceanics are disgustingly high, even when factoring in our VAT rates, so yes we're being fleeced, but in the UK their prices are up even more now because of the Brexit affair.
It might be worth looking into buying from there if the Pound doesn't recover soon, as it means slightly cheaper prices for us.

Just give it up, the dyhard amd fans will just ignore your post and pretend the rx480 is the best card that ever came out of a factory.

let them buy the card and damage their boards first then they will actually wake up to why AMD's market share is so small.

'Damage their boards' That's like, happened once. Also, it's not even that far out of the spec, around 0.3~A per pin over the spec.

Tbh I thought the 8gb on was going to be £240 and the 4gb be £200 and they can both be had for cheaper than that.

Not that far out of spec? Pretty sure the pins are rated for 1.1A. So 0.3 over spec would be 36.4% over spec.

That's a lot over spec. Would you take 36% more medicine than your doctor prescribed for you? I wouldn't.

It is over priced in Europe even when you take EVERYTHING (VAT, import tax, generally higher prices etc) into consideration.

Ignore VAT and it's $275. Not completely terrible

It costs 240 dollars in the US.

240 * 1.2 (the VAT) = 288 USD

That's what the price should be if you first import it into the US and then import it into the UK. In reality it would probably be less since they get shipped from Asia directly to Europe. But let's ignore that.

The RX 480 costs 240 pounds. That's 319 USD.

288 to 319 is an increase of 11%.

So it is about 24 USD (10% of the 240USD price) more expensive than expected in the UK. Yes I rounded down and things like counting double custom fees for first the US and then UK will even out other variations I did not include.

24 dollars higher is a lot on a card like this, which main selling point is the price.
