Louis Rossmann going up against Apple starting tomorrow

I don't see whats the problem. He makes it as if apple is the only computer out there and apple stops him, he's out of business. He can start repairing PCs. The other is becoming Apple authorize repair, maybe if he applies and becomes one, then he can repair as much as he likes and maybe get a lot more parts.

One difference I've seen between a Apple's lcd screen and 3rd party is the missing Apple logo on the ribbon cables.

Intel Xeon E5 1650 v3 @ 3.5GHz 6C:12T / CM212 Evo / Asus X99 Deluxe / 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3000 Trident-Z / Samsung 850 Pro 256GB / Intel 335 240GB / WD Red 2 & 3TB / Antec 850w / RTX 2070 / Win10 Pro x64

HP Envy X360 15: Intel Core i5 8250U @ 1.6GHz 4C:8T / 8GB DDR4 / Intel UHD620 + Nvidia GeForce MX150 4GB / Intel 120GB SSD / Win10 Pro x64

Meh. I remember this guy, he seems to think he should be rich by repairing products that are designed to not be repairable at all. Should he have a right to repair things? Sure. Pragmatically however, is about as meaningful as people who make a living repairing shoes: mass manufacturing has basically made your job obsolete when producing replacement products is cheap enough to forget repairs.

repairing PCs in this day and age isn't worth it. 99.9% of the time it's less expensive to replace the entire thing. Like every other consumer electronic producs out there.

And as he once stated, becoming an authorized repair shop would be against everything he stands for because if someone comes over to have something repaired, he'd have to say it cannot be repaired which is a total lie.

If he was wrong about what he talks about, he might come off as an ass... but he has good knowledge and shares it.  To me, that is the opposite of an asshole.

Sometimes you have to fight off your emotional first reaction to someone's demeanor in order to hear them clearly.

yes if you watch some more of his videos he actually comes off as pretty humble he just doesnt like dealing with BS more than most other people

While it's true that 99% of consumer electronics aren't worth the repair, but those that spend over $1,500, $2,000, or $3,000 will not want to throw away their good working machine just because something as a broken power supply. They will not go out and by a brand new system just because of that. He can still repair after becoming a authorized Apple repair shop. Apple don't just sell phones, they sell PCs too. People who buys them, would like to get them fix and use it for as long as possible, cause they spend a good amount of their hard earn money to buy it.

if he becomes an authorized apple repair shop if someone comes to him with a dead motherboard he probably will have to throw the motherboard away get a replacement and then charge the person for the replacement and say he repaired it -_-

Would be a real shame to see such a big source of interesting information go away :/ I (thankfully) never had to follow any of his guides, but I did watch many of his 'talking videos' which were very interesting to me.

I'm an IT/Network admin for a business. A 1000$ device is not worth the effort to fix if its not a desktop machine. Either RMA or toss it. Anyone spending that kind of money on devices will either have the budget to toss it and buy a new machine

OR

Is a average consumer that just wanted "the best" and now it doesnt work, but they dont have another 800$ to fix it. (apple charges 750$ for a board swap).

This guy board board level repairs for about half that much. User gets to keep his data too, since apple does not typically keep the users data intact.

I dont think you have a clear understanding of this price range and who is in it.

Louis or apple?

apple does not do it frequently because its over priced for most people. It encourages them to buy a new machine instead.

louis repairs all the boards that can be repaired. And if he cant fix it the customer isnt charged a dime.

There are tools that lets you download all the videos from a specific channel.

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

Apple of course. Does a 800$ mobo even exist ? :)

Yeah, normal repair shops are nice enough to not charge when they can't fix anything :)

Well I have that kind of space, though that would take a long time for me to download which it doesn't seem like we have that kind of time. Also that would 1/2 of my remaining space.

I am a person who often travels the high seas (if you catch my drift), so i'm aware, I could also setup torrents for the content, but it would be best for me to filter through it to find the material in question since I doubt his vlogs about himself will be affected

However it would be better if this task was spit up

They dont. But its what apple charges. I mean you can buy used boards on ebay for 300~400$ and do it yourself.

Well... A family member of mine had a soft bricked (at the time we didn't know the soft part) and went to a repair shop, they tested it or whatever, a week later they said they found nothing and still charged 20 euros. Anyways, at school I spoke to someone about this and they were like "bring it to school tomorrow, let me have a look at it", anyways, long story short he fixed it. So this repair shop charged 20 euros for shit they didn't fix. We complained at them and got the 20 euros refunded. Not all non-official repair shops are legit and not as nice as what you are implying :P

IMO thats fine. They spent time on it and should at least be compensated something for the time spent. Its their livelihood, not a favor.

Unless it is specifically stated to be Apple, you can't blame them just yet. It could just as easily be any other large tech company.

Yeah of course, I know, but the one who can fix things are often nicer ( at least from experience :) )

But if a schoolmate can fix what someone who made their job of out fixing this stuff can't fix, it's a bit weird. The reason I asked for a refund was not because I think their time is useless, it's because they couldn't fix something that apparently was easy enough for someone in school to fix.
