Anybody here on LTT into JDM Cars?

What is the better JDM supercar, Nissan GT-4 R35 or Lexus LFA?

LFA purely because of the engine, it's a masterpiece of automotive engineering. The only engines that are more exquisite are Formula One engines.

The R35 is the only one i've tried out irl.. Terrifying amounts of grip. And a good engine too.. just a shame it wasn't a new straight six.. we need some new japanese made straight sixes!

The LFA is unfortunately both underpriced and overpriced... Too expensive for the common man and too cheap for lexus to make a profit. and as such i don't care for it too much.

But they did manage to build one masterpiece of an engine to put in that body.

So my personal opinion is that the R35 is the better car. Since tuning companies have managed to build absolute monsters out of em. (and still keep it cheaper than the LFA)

im no engineer but inline6 is heavier than v6 probably that is the main reason they took it on the r35 (that and nissan was almost bankrupting during the time of the design and relase GTR actually saved the company thanks to their CEO)

Yes, Carlos Ghosn did save Nissan by wanting to revive the Skyline model. It's still impressive seeing it so competitive even after nearly 5 years after launch. Can't wait to see what the R36 can do; not even bothered by the fact taht there is a good chance it'd be a hybrid power train.

As for weight, the inline-6 based motor is indeed heavier than V6 oriented motors. It also takes up more space and makes designing a car more challenging, mainly from a length and height standpoint. But they never designed the R35 to have an inline-6 to begin with. Nissan's R34 JGTC cars ran with inline-6s for the early half of their competitive life but quickly switched over to V6s. Most GT500 cars are also using the V6 design.

I've always liked the blobeye STi's more than the bugeye ones. Don't know why. Both look fantastic with the WRC kit on it though.

Subaru_Impreza_22B_STi-Version.jpg

Nicest looking impreza by far in my opinion^^

im no engineer but inline6 is heavier than v6 probably that is the main reason they took it on the r35 (that and nissan was almost bankrupting during the time of the design and relase GTR actually saved the company thanks to their CEO)

Sure it's heavier and locks the designers down a bit by having them design cars with longer front ends.. But the GTR has always been the long hooded beast.

It kinda feels like the R35 has more in common with the 350z. I thought someone with the R34 as his profile pic would appreaciate that :P

And the straight six is a much more balanced engine. But still. It's nice to see that there is a modern GTR

Personally i would've loved an updated version of the RB25 for 2014.

ps. I've kinda fallen for the girl with the R32. Who doesn't love a girl that custom made her own intake manifold?

I don't see myself as an expert, but I'm certainly up for conversation every now and then between lectures / study sessions.

My dream JDM car is the Nissan Skyline GTR R32 V-Spec II in Bayside Blue or Black Pearl Metallic. Used to be the R34 but the way things are, I don't think I'd ever get a chance at one even with the import laws in Canada lifting. Something about being able to see so many R32s in person and seeing their potential, past and present, has just got me wanting one so bad. There are lots of them where I live in Toronto and they're regulars to car shows, so it's easy to get your fix until the time to own one finally comes along.

15mxuok.jpg

The R32 style is still my favorite of the GT-R's.  I regret not getting an R32 back in 2001 when they where only $30K imported and legal.  I forget the name of the company that did that.    It was that or a used Audi S4.  In the end... stuck with my 240SX ... which eventually gets pretty beat up by the detroit roads and weather =(.

Now the NSX are $30K up...  time to save up!

LFA... love the engine note.  Though I take the GT-R for my daily.

My Rigs (past and present)
