Samsung introducing "Pink gold" color option for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

AlTech

Samsung's new flagship phones (the galaxy S7 and S7 Edge) are now available in "Pink gold". This is the 5th colour option for the S7 and S7 Edge.

This is what it looks like:

s7pink.PNG

This is what Samsung had to say:

"Pink Gold was chosen as it, like the other colors available for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, is a natural color that provides a sense of comfort. These hues glitter and shimmer as if illuminated from inside their glass surfaces.

In particular, the refined, skin tone-inspired Pink Gold color scheme is intended to soothe and incorporate a touch of gentleness, radiance and sophistication to the smartphones' design."

Nice. Still wouldn't buy the S7 if I had to buy a new smartphone tomorrow.

Forget anodized, I want actual blue gold

But I think companies like Apple etc should let the customer pick from a range of anodized colours like the old iPods etc :D

make the world fun again, why are samsung just doing the "grey, black, silver, rose" everyone is doing that

Well, Pink gold and Rose gold are in fact different alloys. Well, same combination but rose gold has more copper in it than pink gold does. Less silver as well.

On the other hand, these are paintjobs and not actual gold. :P

Yeah absolutely, they can just do their own colours, Apple did the whole "silver gold black rose" to be different, but now everyone is copying it it has become boring, so Samsung should try and do something interesting instead of running with the pack as usual

I think they've already gone to far...what with the S6 having a soldered in battery+no micro SD card slot and removed water proofing.

I still think they're a bit more competent than Apple. I mean, Samsung makes notebooks with more than one port.

But this post refers the the colour of the gold. And Rose/Pink Gold is very pretty.

Care to explain why?

A brittle ceramic with very poor corrosion properties. Not to mention very vulnerable to cleavage.

Pretty much the worst type of material to make a robust device out of.

And a thermal Insulator... Yea lets not do that.

I cannot speak for the newer Samsung models as I havent tried them but generally you notice sluggishness with the UI (touchwiz ) over time as it is a little heavy, if you can call it that. Now if this is a problem on Samsung's side (i.e. in their implementation of touchwiz over android) you're safe, meaning you'll get updates fast enough from Samsung to correct it. Now if it is on Google's side (i.e andoid itself), then it will be a lot slower to get the updates as Samsung has to work on it before they can get it to your phone. And since they have so many phones with different specifications to deal with, this is gonna take time.

This is also a reason why support for earlier S variants is not as robust as the support for earlier nexuses

Slower updates also means you may not be able to test out the newest applications on the Play Store.

Then there is the bloatware, which can be a little cumbersome if you have the 16 gig variant because more often than not, you will not be able to have as many big applications on the device. Though it is possible to move some apps on the SD card..

But honestly speaking, I am a little partial toward nexuses because I like everything minimalistic . There wont be the initial excitement of trying out new features like the Samsung offerings ( because when google says barebone, they mean barebone) , but you know that the phone will last you a good solid 2-3 years if you wish it to do so. My Nexus 5 still runs like new. That said, it may also be the case with newer models of Samsung like the S7 as the specs are becoming more and more future proof, so you have a gamble to take.
