Computer shuts down in gpu intensive games/benchmarks
mikat replied to mikat's topic in Troubleshooting
yeah, the massive 3 fan gpu cooler is right over that little heatsink (tbh the heatsink and fan shoulda been better quality), but 2 NF-A14s are coming to fix the problem -

HWMonitor shows southbridge temperatures, they were creeping up about 2c per minute in furmark -
Aarden is toch de term die meestal gebruikt word, zou daar voor gaan

I just wanted to say that we figured it out whilst I was writing this but I didn't wanna throw this post away so other people in the future could benefit from our findings: the included fans in the meshify C only go up to 1200 rpm and we had to max them out all the time to get acceptable southbridge (chipset) temperatures, they were going up steadily while running furmark, gonna order him a noctua NF-A14 to fix the problem and get him some more airflow -
Hey, it's been a while since I posted here I built my friend's new gaming rig, the specs are as follows: Ryzen 7 3700x Asrock X570 Pro4 MSI RTX 3080 Ventux 3X 10G OC Fractal Design Meshify C Dark TG Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 GB DDR4 3600mhz Corsair RM850x (2018) Samsung 970 EVO 1TB The problem is is that it keeps shutting down under in heavy loads, if we turn on furmark for the gpu and cinebench for the cpu its under a minute until it shuts down. In most games it's fine but in PUBG & other gpu bound titles (

What Linux Distro should I use?
mikat replied to OtterlyDumb's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
For the one that works/looks most like windows I'd get Linux Mint, but be warned that you'll probably have lower fps and maybe games that don't work natively on linux at all (you'll need to install additional programs to get these running) -

@Den15 Nice, Linux is great, you don't have to worry about getting the crappy version of docker then As for monitors I'd not recommend anything under 1440p, 1080p is really limiting from my experience (laptop for school) and it's always a relief coming home to 2x4k monitors

well yeah but only if you know beforehand what you're gonna be running your code on, you have to make a seperate binary for every architecture
-
I have but on the netflix site it says edge is also supported
-
yeah I've got "our planet" up and it's only going to 1080p netflix debug info:
-
I didn't, I pieced out the information myself but i've checked all the steps and I've got everything
-
yeah it was already installed

I'm using displayport or hdmi 2.0 depending on the computer, if I was not my displays wouldn't be running at 60hz I'm also trying to watch the highwaymen since it's a new title from netflix in 4k
-
yeah but netflix tells us it is possible on desktop https://help.netflix.com/en/node/13444

Not much, but I can say that CPUs with higher clock speeds are nice and it's definitely handy to grab windows 10 pro, the clockspeed is because many compilers for web development only use one thread if you're only compiling one final js file. Windows 10 pro is for when you want to do virtualization with hyper-v and testing out docker images on your computer (the version for windows 10 home is awful ) You should be fine with an cpu equal to or better than the i5-8250u. I'd get 16gb of ram for virtual machines and chrome tabs That is if you're shopping for a laptop, if you're shopping fo

Hey guys, I'm trying to watch netflix in 4k but it just won't go to 4k I have: an LG 27UD58 a Dell U2718Q a 1070ti (they say either 10 series nvidia or 7th gen intel gpu is required) 80 mbit/s down checked that the nvidia control panel says that I my monitors are connected with HDCP tried using edge (chrome doesn't support 4k netflix) paid for the more expensive netflix 4k plan I've also tried connecting my monitors to my laptop (8750h, Quadro P1000) but same story no luck. How would I fix/troubleshoot this issue?

yeah I come to the forum to read things in text not videos, sorry

rx 470/570 if you can find one, but as the comments above already said: the rest of your computer is so old that you probably need to swap out more parts (first psu, then cpu and ram)
