G-Sync™ Enabled Monitors
G-Sync™ is not supported by Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Windows 10. Running the Game with G-Sync™ enabled will cause significant performance issues. If you are using a G-Sync™ enabled monitor, you should disable it from the NVIDIA Control Panel. Alternatively, you can set Lock Framerate to OFF in the Video settings. Please visit NVIDIA support pages for the latest on NVIDIA drivers and software.

AMD and Ambient Occlusion setting
There are visual issues with AMD graphics cards and the Ambient Occlusion setting, it is strongly recommended to turn this setting OFF. We are readying a fix to be deployed in the coming days.

To turn OFF Ambient Occlusion:
- Launch Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Windows 10
- From the Main Menu, go to Settings
- Select Video and set Ambient Occlusion to OFF

AMD hasn't used their influence to use underhand tactics to cripple performance on Nvidia cards.

MS gaming on PC dead before it even arrives....no matter what ever they put on their store no savy gamer gamer is going to buy from them, Fixing these "issues" after the fact sums up how half assed the whole thing is, if you're going to push gaming again on windows have your shit together before you start releasing games for your platform....or even better just put them on steam.

You know one is an 8-core CPU, and the other is a GPU, right? Both built completely differently.

Microsoft is the one that needs to wake up and rethink their decisions as far as games on Windows Store in terms of those limitations. Optimization also a priority, specially cause of W10 and DX12 also GoW UE so it should be polished and great. Looking forward to GoW though.

I am starting to feel as if this isn't Nvidia's fault. I think it is AMDs fault for either not developing and testing better drivers faster or they aren't connecting with the devs. I don't know, it all feels like someone isn't doing something

the point im making is its clearly AMDs fuck up since the game was build to run on AMD hardware, no gameworks scapegoat for the poor performance.

One is an APU. The other uses a discrete GPU aka graphics card.

On my old GTX 9600gt I had over the years a few game crashes or black screens in specific titles which didn't affect majority of nvidia users, only those with a certain GPU. I am not excusing the devs but I can sympathize...

 

what happens is game devs test on both AMD and Nvidia. But if there is an issue which only crops up on a certain chip it can be easily missed. In this case they probably didn't test on any GCN 1.2 chips.

Why would you not test on as much as possible. If I pour this much money on developing a game I would think I would be able to afford a variety of cards and hardware.

 

Maybe there is just this ultimate breakdown of communication from AMD and Nvida with Devs. They should have good communication about drivers etc. It's not like this is a one man band indy dev doing a release.

Yes it is louder, but that is because they chose a higher RPM solution in order to make the chassis slimmer.

 

Sonys PS4 has 18 CUs or "compute units" and 8 ACEs, allowing for 64 queue deep async compute (equal to hawaii).  whilst the Xbox has 12 CUs and 2 ACEs, for a total of 16 queue deep async compute.

 

According to wikipedia, the PS4 has a 230-250w PSU (newer models has smaller PSU due to OS being optimized over time to use upwards of 80% less power then upon launch), but max load on a PS4 rarely, if ever, exceeds 160w. Even with the PS camera attached.

I don't think AMD nor Nvidia is solely to blame. A majority of the issues with games performing as bad as they do come from the development side of things, generally.

Hard to determine since both use custom chip so they can put whatever they want in it but looking at the GPU core counts the PS4 seem like using a cutdown of 7850 and a cutdown of 7790 for the XB1, probably to maximize yield. idk
