How does your PC rank in terms of value to You personally? looking back was it a poor decision? or a perfect choice for Your day to day tasks or just an overkill?

Spot on. It's just what I needed, but as games become more demanding, it will definitely fall behind.

(hence the upgrades)

I think I struck a good balance between performance and price, but it might be a little overkill...

I dont even want to price it up... I live in the UK where computer parts are expensive to begin with, and the fact that I dont really play games on it too. But its stupidly sexy and overkill for what I use it for and I love it.

My pc is good price to performance but not perfect as it has an i7 and 16gigs of ram, however I like the options these things give me, I have a 970, a cheaper but well built case, good solid power supply from evga that I got for 20% off current pricing, a good quality non gamer edition motherboard, standard cooling and 3 $25 dollar case fans that I got for 8 bucks a piece.

Modern (Haswell-R) i5 @ 4.0Ghz + GTX 970 @ 1.4Ghz

For 1080p & DSR - Knowing I wouldn't be happy with anything less, and didn't need anything more.

 

Gaming primary, GPU-assisted encoding Secondary, ample for the usage.

 

/Built over time, but don't need to waste the little excess money I have on parts I'd hardly take advantage of.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

total overkill, especially when i'm done and add a fury x2 and a 4k monitor. But i don't care as it's what i want. I always get what i want when it comes to stuff i buy myself.... So i had to choose the "other" options since none of the others applied

Individually, a lot of my parts are crap, but as a whole I got an I7-3770 & GTX 970 for under $1000

I did not have a set budget, i just bought what suited my use of a PC, and it represents performance needed for the worst case scenario, so it has overhead (Core i7)

Mine is about right as far as the hardware goes, maybe just a little overkill for my needs because I spurged a little on aesthetics. But my peripherals are very overkill. But I convince myself it wasn't a waste because they are the way I interface with the pc. You need a big, beautiful screen to see stuff. You need a super nice keyboard that changes color because reasons. You need a comfortable mouse. You need a home theater grade sound system AND $200 wireless headphones. You need a giant, stylish case to look like an imposing monolith on your desk to strike fear into the heart of your enemies (read: cat).

Mine was excellent price to performance until I added a 2nd R9 290, added more water cooling and upgraded the PSU (on the boarder of where diminishing returns kick in :P ). Still "up there" in terms of price to performance though, nothing overkill or overpriced. :)

Well most of the games I play arent that demanding so I could get by on less tbh. The only thing I regret is not getting a 2500k when I built my first gaming rig.
