#DisarmTheiPhone - New York Activist group want's Apple to remove the Gun emoji

The emoji in iOS are just part of the Unicode standard (U+1F52B is the gun) and any OS should aim for full Unicode compatibility.

They should reach out to the Unicode Consortium and not to Apple if they really want to change this.

But they won't do that because they want every document to be convertible to Unicode.

I am not sure what is worse, the activism itself, or the fuel it creates against the so-called "SJWs" and anything remotely resembling Liberalism (even when it is completely unrelated).

I'm getting tired of this. We have one end of the spectrum who wants everyone to own automatics, and then we have the other end of the spectrum that wants to ban gun emojis. Where the f*ck are the moderates?

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

Stupid group should shut up and carry on living their lives. There are more important things to worry about rather than removing emojis from phones that the majority of gun crime committers likely can't even afford >.>

It always makes me laugh that people demonize the NRA, not realizing that the NRA was started by the Federal Government in the first place.

The amount of stupidity on both sides is quite distasteful.

 

To the Rightist - Just make sure you lock up your guns so they don't get into the wrong hands. Irresponsible owners are why guns tend to become an issue.

 

To the Leftist - Banning something doesn't solve the issue, you need to get to the root of the issue which there are three major factors... 
a.) Money
b.) Mental Illness

c.)  Jealousy/Envy/Anger

  b would be the easiest to address though not going to solve everything. a is another possible one to address but then you run into the same issue as b, and for c that one can't easily be addressed either. 
 

 

Personally I do prefer the Democratic Socialist Platform over the others...

If I were to go "hunting" it wouldn't be in the traditional sense it would be with a DSLR and some good telephoto glass.

 

In summary Wil Wheaton's brilliant quote a few years back should really be plastered everywhere. "Don't be a Dick"

Except that it's an impossible task because you would need guns to enforce that kind of action. Not to mention immediately starting an unwinnable civil war. (remember, our military can't even beat shepherds in the desert, so how can they even hope to beat 60 million+ armed people?)
