*sigh*

Today I was going back to my desk after a quick fix on a printer on HR floor when I saw an older lady from HR toss half the document she just printed ...

me: why did you threw away these if you just printed them?

older HR lady: oh, we only need the first 10 pages of that report for XYZ meeting!

me: then why not print the first 10 pages only?

older HR lady: *WTF face*

me: you know you can print only the part you want with any documents!

older HR lady: really? can you show me how?

me: ... yeah ... (internally yelling "SERIOUSLY?!??!?!")

I did showed her, but seriously, how do these people get to do those things for what I guess are YEARS without anybody noticing or her not seeing the option to print the number of pages you want in the print menu?????

There are people that didn't see a computer until they were 30. When they were forced to start using one, they were taught press a button without explaining what the other buttons do.

This is also reflected when the layout of a program or the OS is changed. The button they were taught to press may have been moved to a submenu, or even moved 1 mm to the right, but they will fail to find it.

Dad just bought an $80 hdmi cable...

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

I'd be uncomfortable with a 15 dollar cable. He'd better return it

That's how they *used to* work. Back in the days of the Athlon 64 X2 - AMD rated the total number based on the sum of GHz - say the 3800+ had 2 cores clocked at 1.9GHz respectively. 4400+ had 2 cores at 2.2GHz. Intel did something similar with the Pentium D IIRC - not sure tho.

First:

Friend: In a year, I am going to buy a computer with two titans.

(not titan z, not titan x, just the titan)

Me: That’s a bad idea, that’s not a new card, and it is better ones out there.

Friend: I want them because I did read that titan has the best graphics out there.

Me: Do not say you actually believe that...

Friend: ........

Second:

Friend: Can you install anti-virus program and do a scan for me? The computer are slow.

Me: yes (wonder why he may not have one)

Find out that he has 4 anti-virus software on the computer all activated.

Me: Why do you have 4 of them?

Friend: Because I need them.

Me: no you don’t, your problem isn’t virus, but too many anti-virus programs

Friend: that’s impossible

Me: yes (uninstalls all of them and install a new one)

Friend: No, I need them!

Me: No, test your computer now.

Friend: Oh..... It’s fast now....

Me: ......

Btw, those friends are not the same person

If you go to the page there are gender specifics over who should use the computer, this one is unisex, but seeing how they added that, they're kinda specifying genders here
