Most Unix and Linux systems, OSX included, defrag automatically in the background whenever possible and at low load. Defrag also isn't a thing with SSDs, which MacBooks have been running for awhile now.

Doesn't quite work like that. Updates can bring more code that bloats things down, system logs become established and grow, and user programs introduce background processes.

I don't find the 3DS like 240p or whatever screen to be a pain and the switch can barely be less PPI than that lol

The Switch is like 244.7 PPI. It's "retina" 14" away, which is what I expect most people to be holding them at.

I don't think the 3DS counts as retina at any distance but yah the Switch has a decent resolution for the size, 1080p would clearly be optimal but the hardware isn't really there yet

IMO, 1080 is a waste on the Switch, 900p wpuld be the reasonable cut off to me.

Well, it kinda depends.

 

The Switch’s display PPI is roughly 244, only slightly less than what Apple designates as “Retina” for a tablet.

 

Here’s the thing. The Switch isn’t meant to be used nose-up. You hold it a distance away at around arm’s length. I’ve played with the Switch and I never found the screen much different in terms of detail compared to my iPad Pro. 

 

The resolution is fine. You’re not holding it nose-up and it’s obviously done to not impede the gaming performance too much.

Ive noticed the resolution maybe twice, and I don't even care. Even if they put a better screen in games would still run at 720p unless they dropped it to 30 fps, which 60 fps games on the switch are partially more enjoyable than Zelda because of that.

Read the parts that I talked to Zando and Banana about, in regards to resolution. I personally have no issur with it.

The only thibg I wish is that Nintendo pushes an updated variant that is just an APU upgrade, +32GB storage and 2-4 GiB RAM increase, and an improved kickstand. Keep the 720p screen.
