Experiences with non-techies

My gran has used computers for decades and for some reason has now developed a habit of just pressing the button on her CRT monitor then phoning me asking why the computer won't turn on and I have to spend the next hour trying to get her to press the power button on the actual computer tower beside the monitor as well.

It's getting very tedious

this is everyone in college, once i say "computer" or "cpu" they get confused. I have nobody who actually understands what i am saying and it is really depressing, because when they ask me what i am doing, i tell them as simple as possible, but they just drown out and say "yup", or "great".

In all seriousness though, how?!? First of all, I don't understand how you could get the privacy needed, and second of all, at that young of an age? I'm a year older and have never had a gf, though to be fair that is mostly probably because of private school and me being a math and science type of kid. Honestly I don't expect myself to until around 22 or so :P.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Well alot of them happened when my mum took a job in Myrtle Beach managing a hotel. At the time I looked my best, I had access to a pool everyday and since we weren't sure if she'd keep the job due to a 6 month contract that they might sell the property we got to stay there.

Most of thEm were like 13-14

I am OS-neutral, but needs more time using Linux to be able to help anyone. Forcing someone to use a different operating system is a red flag for me that someone's profession isn't in IT/IS.

I like windows more than Linux. I don't code so the existing coded programs and coding languages are more abundant on Windows help me if I want to code
