  1. Please read the post. I said I'm not going to do water cooling. I have to move my PC every 3 months at the minute and I don't trust it.
  2. Okay so I'm a bit off this upgrade but the chances are that I'll be going for something like a Ryzen 7 and RTX 3070 when I do upgrade. I'm a student and quite frankly, my full ATX tower is a bit of a pain to move between home and uni. I'll also probably be going a little further afield if I do a PhD so need something a little more portable. Now I need those specs because I'm a YouTuber. As a result, I also generate a rather large amount of data so here are my expected requirements. Mini ITX Sized Case - This needs to be as small as possible while still meeting the other requirement
  3. Editing in premiere runs fine but every time I try to encode in media encoder it crashes
  4. Okay so I'm making science youtube videos and since I edit in Premiere I use Adobe Media Encoder to export my videos. I'm using a Ryzen 5 1600. It is overclocked but I've seen this happen when not overclocked too. Whenever I use Media Encoder I have to manually go into task manager and block it from using 4 of my 12 threads otherwise it crashes almost immediately into the video render. As such I only get to use 4 of my 6 cores fully. I'm encoding in H.264. Any help would be much appreciated
  5. Since I'll probably only be filming myself for the foreseeable future I'll probably just get a lav mic and record to my phone and sync it in post. The price difference between a 1300d and even a 600d makes that I good idea
  6. My only concern on the 1300d is the lack of a mic input. I given how relatively inexpensive it is though I would probably find some kinda janky way to attach both a shotgun mic and my phone to it if I was needing run and gun audio
  7. Until people can go to Mars and do it on Olympus Mons. 22km up from the Martian Surface
  8. Not sure what your use case is but if it's professional or gaming I'd say swap out the PSU for something that's 80+ gold rated (Personally I use a Corsair RMx unit). I'd suggest swapping out the 5700 for a 5700xt or 2070 Super like @Gundar suggested. And if you're only going to be gaming then I'll echo Gundar again and go down to an R5 3600. I'm still using a 1600 and a 1070 for gaming and it's a great time so don't really see the need to upgrade to the 3700x. AMD will probably allow another generation or two in the 400 series boards (I can drop a 3000 series into my B350 board wit
  9. Probably looking at £400 or less preferably but I'm happy to buy used. Both my dad's and my sister's cameras were used and we just shopped around to make sure the lenses weren't scratched to hell
  10. Hi all, I'm realising that I have no need to upgrade my computer or phone in the coming months but have a birthday coming up. I'm turning 20 and reckon I'm about 1 month away from my family starting to ask for ideas so I've been thinking about getting a decent camera. My dad and my sister both use Canon 1300D DSLRs so I'm very much tempted to stay with Canon (so I can borrow lenses if I need to) but if anyone can come up with a good reason why I shouldn't I'm all ears. I'm not 100% sure what the camera will end up getting used for but some scenarios with a r
  11. I can see what you mean. Given the number of products that come through their studio though you can't really expect that though. Personally I have much more confidence in the products that they use day to day. I wasn't convinced by the Surface Laptop when it first came out. But the fact that Alex seems to use them religiously has certainly improved my opinion of them. And the fact that Linus still uses his Note 9 (I know he's giving the OnePlus 8 series a try now) is the main reason I haven't been worrying too much about upgrading from my S8. If Linus hasn't seen something that's worth taking
  12. I fully agree with you. Just look at the latest S20 Ultra review (I think it's that one anyway). Linus basically said that at the price point it's targeted at everything else is in play and it's not flawless. If it was it could have justified the price. This is the problem that Apple hits more than most because all their tech is largely speaking more expensive than the competition. For me, since the iPod Touch 4th Gen, there's always been some sort of caveat that makes the price unjustifiable. With the iPad, it's actually the cost of the Pencil on top of it that makes it an impossi
  13. I'm not an Apple fan. I'm not going to beat around the bush on that one. And I'm not a fan not because I "hate" Apple. I don't really hate them, I will give them credit where credit is due, but I'm also not blind to their shortcomings. A lot of what I would say are Apple's shortcomings arise because they do not live in an isolated system. I have owned some Apple devices over the years (admittedly both different iterations of the iPod) and I had them because compared to everything else that was trying to do the same thing, nothing else compared. In fact when I had an iPod touch, no
  14. So glad I made it over 500k points. First folding event and just a single GTX 1070 folding while I did uni work and taking a break when playing games and sleeping. Pretty proud tbh.
  15. Having the odd behaviour of my CPU folding only using about 37% of my CPU at any given time. I've given it 10 of my 12 threads so it should be loaded but Task Manager is only reporting 37% on F@H and 51% overall CPU usage
