Samsung is launching "cheap" curved monitors (starting at $299)

Samsung is going to be selling three cheaper curved monitors ranging in size from 24-31 inches. Prices will range from $299-$599 and will be 1080p screens.

According to a table breakdown on businesswire, they'll have a refresh rate of 60Hz, 4ms response time, and are all VA panel types.

The 24 and 27" screens will each have a VGA and an HDMI port while the 31" will sport 2 HDMI ports and 1 DP (I didn't see which version of HDMI or DP).

Available in May.

I suppose people just need to decide if you think curved is worth the price or not. If anything, this is the first attempt at getting more consumers using the curved screens so future iterations can be cheaper. And hey, if people want the higher resolutions, they can still drop $1200 on the 34" one.

hehe, according to your handle you have 2 Titans in SLI... Im guessing you'd be more inclined to get the 34" :P

I'm not interested in curve if it's not ultra wide tbh. It seems like a waste in 16:9.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

24" curved? What is the point? Who ever looked at a 24" monitor and thought "fuck me the angular distortion is making this unwatchable!"

Who the fuck runs one 24" screen so close to his eyes that the curve is needed ? :D

But with G Flex smartphone being acceptthe d, I guess a our arguments are invalid....

Well no. As silly as I think curved phones might be, at least there's a case for holding them close to your face. Especially if they insist on putting 1440p or 4k screens on the damned things.

Rich elitists :P

Rich elitists would be using 4k ultra wide surround. And still be complaining about image quality.

As for me, I game on a 21" dell that was like $130

Yeah, this is a kind of garbage move for customers. any monitor above 23 inches that has a resolution of 1920x1200 or less is horrible. 2560x1440 is and should be standard now. Not really sure what Samsung is going for with this strategy, really.
