It is not a mining rig, it is not using PCI splitters or 2 motherboards.

then find me a motherboard wth 8 pcie 16X gen 3 and a cpu that ould support it

4 dual GPUs in SLI

not the same as 8 cards. then you could have 16 gpu's

"10x performance of Titan X in compute tasks"

Since the Titan X has only 0.2 TFLOPS in DP, I'm pretty sure that there will be no jump other than smaller node and moar cores ( 2 TFLOPS is not so much for a compute card )

Do you even know the difference between GPU and physical graphics card? A card can potentially house an unlimited amount of GPUs, it is just a circuit board. SLI is between GPUs, thats why u can only use 2 dual cards in 4-way SLI

thats a dual cpu mobo, its basicly like having 2.

and those are NOT gen 3 pcie 16X. your titan X won't fit in there.

also. cpu that will support ?

no shit sherlock, those arent pascal cards so of course they dont support 8 way SLI. But the motherboard below it is his point

If it would be 10x the FPS i would be like FUCK YEAH BRING IT ON.

But it won't so meh.

I hope with 8way SLI comes a better scaling? But who orders 4 Dual GPU cards? Also that would be octa-sli and not 8way but whatevs.

If I remember correctly, the 10x was "ceo math" and was just an addition of how many times faster it was in different aspects.

well KingPin at least, uses the terms interchangeably. and the 8-way SLI can be either 4 dual cards or 8 single cardsl I think it will be the former as no board on the market can fit 8 single cards with adequate cooling

lol learn yourself,

GPU = Graphic Processing Unit

technology to have 2 gpu's on a same card is different than SLI you only need one X16 PCI-e Slot.

I don't see this as being impossible. There have been leaps and bounds in performance and efficiency with rendering tasks in the past few years up to twenty years. When they say they'll have "Roughly X performance" then I'll believe them because they've gotten very close to their targets before. Nvidia is more likely to hit that 10 GHz mark than Intel with how they're going too.

Something that hasn't been mentioned is whether or not Jen-Hsun said these are dedicated compute cards or consumer cards. I would hazard a guess saying dedicated.

Uummmmm. Nope. Intel cpus can get to round 5.5ghz, a lot clover than the 1.2-1.5 on gpus

CEO math is the best kind of math, largely because it makes the fanboys so salty and leads to shitfests like this thread over all the rage.

woah woah woah

so you mean, that a card, that uses silicone and binary logic, and cannot have 10x of the performance of the prev gen??????????

you are an MAD AMD(see what I have did there?) fan boy do not you?

Joke aside, this is something so ridiculous that screams fake/made up. yet people think it is a possibility

CEO Math = NVidia propaganda.

Watching Intel have competition is like watching a headless chicken trying to get out of a mine field

Oh please, like every CEO on the face of this planet hasn't run their mouth and made tongue in cheek comments about what they sell.

And what propaganda? The only people who take this seriously are idiots who probably believe in chemtrails and other silly junk.
