Apple Watch will only have 8GB of storage - 2GB usable for music, 75MB for photos

Now since more information is out about the Apple Watch, people have been clamoring over the details, although there's one detail that should make people a bit upset - the Apple Watch will only have 8GB of storage. The real kicker is that only 2GB of the 8GB can be used to store music, and only 75MB is reserved for your photos. This breaks down to around 200 songs and 100 photos respectively. Even the $10,000 edition of the Apple Watch comes with only 8GB of storage. How criminal.

 

While this is certainly something to complain about, especially on the $10,000 edition, I don't see it as a huge deal. Why? Because the Apple Watch will be paired to your iDevice anyways, and therefore you can just play or view any song or photo from your iDevice onto your Apple Watch. I really wish Apple would increase the storage capacity or at least add in a microSD card slot (that'll never happen, but wishful thinking), but it is what it is.

 

What are your thoughts on the Apple Watch? Will you buy one?

 

(As a side note, this is whole 8GB of storage thing is a real turn off, as is its 18 hours of battery life... Just saying.)

Why a huge deal? If you're using it for running, you don't have or need a lot of songs anyways. 

 

If you're using it casually, you have your phone near you anyways so use BT headphones that way 

 

Much ado about nothing. They'll probably increase it next round and charge more, its the Apple way.

IDK what apple is doing, people who used to buy their phones have realized micro SD cards are a thing, they can fit a 128gb micro SD card in there no problem, come on apple

maybe people like me that cant be arsed to put new music on it every week

 

its too damn expensive though.

People want watches to be phone replacements a little too badly. The tech isn't there. The batteries sure as hell aren't there. The best we will ever get is really smart companion devices that can enhance the functionality and have some minor autonomy. 

 

All Apple is guilty of with the Watch is pricing it like madmen and they'll get away with it. Because their marketing is stronger and they will make sure NORMAL people know their product exists. While the Android crew is advertising to nerds, Apple is advertising to everyone else. And everyone else? Largely doesn't care about any gripes we would have, save battery life.

Why do you need any storage at all? Who views photos on a 1.5" (not to mention square) screen?

I would only use the watch to control music on my phone, 8gb should be enough for apps because they will be WAY smaller than the iPhone ones

We have a phone in our pocket that can do way more and we already have it! It is literally just a couple more muscle movements!! Well I bet they will sell really well though because it says apple on it.

it is a watch with 8GB of storage and people are complaining? It will stream music from the iPhone and have a small archive of music for untethered runs. The only thing you need is space for apps and the remaining storage is plenty for that.

As for me, I only buy smart products that perform above average, have better than average battery life, and then also has bonus features. Hence why I have an Xperia Z2. This is also why I'm looking at the Alcatel Onetouch, the Urbane, and the G watch R, and especially not the iwatch with horrible battery life, hugely thick, bulbous design, and no solid bonus features, like hidden USB charging port, round face, stainless steel (not soft gold ;-) ), mediocre processor, lack of apps, and now crap storage allocation. Sounds like it was a rushed design to try and catch up with the android SmartWatch industry that looks to have left apple in the dust in all categories. They are pretty much a full generation behind everyone else.\

 

Edit: Oh, and I'm also looking at the Zenwatch or more likely the Zenwatch 2.

Actually, iirc, they managed to get standby time to over a day, but you still need to recharge it daily.
