My very short lived visit to LTT forums

reyncor

I originally came here to search/ask about ECC memory for professionals.

However, while creating an account I ran into

1. No Google Login, thats the only account I have that's secured with 2 Step Auth and is my

preferred method of login. I don't steam... It's linux support is horrid. And my twitter is really low security.

2. Your login form breaks Chrome's password manager, at a glance I can't tell why.

I hope you figure it out... without that I will not be able to login once my session times out,

or login from any of my other devices because I definitely will not be able to remember my long cryptic high entropy

secpwgen password.

While you're at it... the 32 character limit on passwords is counterproductive.

https://defuse.ca/password-policy-hall-of-shame.htm

I could still use some opinions on the use of value of ECC to a professional who

could benefit from a slower but more stable system. In my case I'm eying a mid range i5 vs an ECC supporting Pentium R.

@reyncor

Google login should be added at some point this year when we update to the next version of the forum software.

I have no idea why it breaks the Chrome password manager, though LastPass works fine, and nobody else has complained about it, so perhaps it's on your end. I will investigate and forward the issue to the relevant parties.

Apparently the password length limit is only a nominal limit, and it is apparently not enforced. I will see whether the text can be changed to reflect the actual limits.

Do you really need to use a password that you can't remember though, given that you're not going to end up being able to use the account anyway? Why not set it to something that you can remember - the worst that can happen is that you lose access to your account in the far future.

Exactly, lol.

That's why I stayed here after I was posting questions about building my pc a while back on both forums. I got helpful replies here. My posts turned into AMD vs Intel and AMD vs Nvidia over there. Constant arguing when someone finally replied with something helpful.

Still better than Origin's 16 characters limit though.

I heard it's limited because Slick hates having to type long passwords into the forum's ultra-secure 'forumpasswords.txt' that he leaves on his desktop.

Everyone takes the long way round at those forums when trying to get to a solution

I don't want to sound like a douche but if you're that worried about your password and how it's the forum' fault for you not remembering your password, I'd rather see you leave than stay.

If all you do is complain and worry about your password on some forum and instead want to use your account that you use on everything which is far less safe, then I don't know what you're doing with your life.

Again, maybe I am seeing this the wrong way, I'd welcome everyone but...

So many things I could write here... things like this.

How isn't 32 characters enough for a forum? I'm sure you don't store valuable information on here.

Yeah, a forum is PUBLIC.

Its not an M16 account or something like that

why would you need such  secure login measures for a forum?

Some people have OCD when it comes to passwords, its understandable

What. 32 is plenty. You really aren't storing any valuable information on a LTT account.

the only account worth stealing is a mod or admin account.

I would understand if it was another site like amazon or some site you would be spending money on, for a forum it's a bit unreasonable to completely avoid a place like a forum over something like this.
