At 140W that's beautiful!

i know right. i have no idea how the workstation cards can use so little power compared to gaming ones but get similar performance.

the a4000 is roughly equivalent (in gaming) to the 3060ti

Total board power:

a4000: 140w

3060ti: 200w

It's amazing what happens when people aren't as worried about MOAR FRAMES isn't it? Single slot 3060ti basically with tiny power draw.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

My uneducated guess is they're just some of the best binned chips Nvidia has and not a whole lot else really. Better bins = lower voltage = waaaaaay lower power draw and the ability to throw dumb idiot coolers like that one on and not have it turn into the second coming of Chernobyl.

But how well does it fold?

The A4000 does pretty damn well for the size. I've used a couple of them for folding in the past, and they were around 2.8M PPD IIRC. The A5000 gets quite a lot more than that (the ones I've used have easily broken 5M PPD each), but they're dual slot cards that draw 230W. The A4000 is a nice little card.

Bought a new 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD to add to my rig, I forgot I still have a spare NVMe M.2 slot on my mobo. I'm fully aware this SSD isn't that fast, bor is it of great quality, but I'm simply using it to store more games. This is part of my ongoing effort to upgarde my rig in preparation for the RX 7900 XTX. Already upgraded my CPU to the 5900X, and upped my RAM to 2x 16GB DDR4 4000MHz.

@soldier_ph inspired me to finally buy some wired in-ears since the DualSense sucks at driving headphones, and completely by accident I ended up getting some ZEX Pro's as well, though mine are the CRN flavor as apparently they've got more low-end bias than the vanilla ones (and I am a filthy zoomer who likes copious amounts of bass). Certainly a very weird feeling compared to my 2nd gen Airpods which fit my ear perfectly, it's very unusual having in-ears shoved this deep into my head.

Might have to see if there are even smaller tips available, even though I'm using the smallest tips included in the box it honestly still feels like it might be just a smidge too large.

It's dirty but will clean up just fine.  £20 from CEX

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

@flibberdipper Actually I don't like the KZ Zex Pro at all. The sound is weird, the fit is uncomfortable and I don't like the fact that there aren't clear R and L markings on them because I'll be confused for a couple of seconds while figuring out which way they go. Someday I might get a fancy Sound setup with premium Headphones and DAC+Amp but for now my Sony WH-1000XM4s and Sony WF-1000XM4s are my choice and nothing else. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the gift, I just don't like the gift. Meanwhile the PineTime is cooler at least.

Anyways, my iFixit Order arrived today:

iFixit Manta Precision Bit Set, the Essential Electronics Toolkit and the pair of Heavy Duty Suction Cups. Can't forget the Haribos of course:

IMG_20221122_201841_1.thumb.jpg.9fb15529b76f8dc0cdb3bc6c054891d6.jpg

I didn't know that they included Stickers with these lol.

T-Shirts, they each have the iFixit logo on the back: (couldn't also upload the pictures from the Back because of the size limitation)

Tote Bag:

IMG_20221122_202740_1.thumb.jpg.755171101ae2a2ec036e808a07fbd4f1.jpg

Lots of Stickers:

IMG_20221122_202918_1.thumb.jpg.3f812f0d975b4e17d15c13168909f473.jpg

I bought those guys on the top left individually, appreciate it that they also include them for free with the Toolkits.

iflex, Battery Blocker pic and set of cleaning swabs/pics:

IMG_20221122_203052_1.thumb.jpg.06c5b1e864ac0fd250fc417f757a2a51.jpg

IMG_20221122_203418_1.thumb.jpg.e1281d4df0a58f6b2b11e54b15b3f9ba.jpg

On the far left we also have the Heavy Duty Spudger, I just also needed to have that.

Now the main reason why I purchased from iFixit: Two 512GB Premium Edition Steamdeck Displays to upgrade both @AluminiumTech's and my Displays:

IMG_20221122_203819_1.thumb.jpg.e0fd5d3f4d952d0068c891a6efb892c5.jpg

IMG_20221122_213808_1.thumb.jpg.c95b468cea154f76db1d082b02c68d90.jpg

IMG_20221122_214407_1.thumb.jpg.adaade801b1f0def974671a1fdf59b14.jpg

Now here I don't understand why they included a Battery Blocker pic in the first place, you have to use a Plastic pic or tweezers anyways to wiggle free the Battery Connector from the Motherboard and there wouldn't really be any risk of it reconnecting itself on its own. Nevertheless I have 3 of those now, I guess I should've more thoroughly read the Product description of what they included. I only cared about the Display, Ribbon Cable, adhesive strips and the iOpener. The Display itself is 94$ and the whole kit with more than enough Tools is 99$ so it made sense to just buy the whole kit.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

If you press it too much against your ears it can be. Pressing it with less force against your ear should make it more comfortable.

To be fair, it's easier to tell on cables that have the microphone cos the microphone is on the part of the cable that connects to the right IEM.

Though it's also something that gets easier as you use IEMs more and more.

I would imagine it's to either:

  • Prevent the battery from short circuiting the logic board or vice versa
  • Prevent something from puncturing the battery and then the battery catching fire as a result.
  • or to Prevent some kind of contact between it and something else

The screen on my S10+ decided it didn't want to work properly anymore so I'm now an iPhone user. Got this 128GB iPhone 12 for 370£ in really good condition came with a new cable and all the documentation. My first iPhone. The USB C to lightning cable inside doesn't feel like it's of great quality, very plasticky, I'm not entirely surprised they (used to hopefully) break so easily. I've been using my laptop to charge it for now since I don't have any chargers with USB C ports.

Now the main reason why I purchased from iFixit: Two 512GB Premium Edition Steamdeck Displays to upgrade both @AluminiumTech's and my Displays:

Let me know how this goes and if it's actually plug and play or if there's something different you have to do. I know a few people that got the 64gb but wouldn't mind the nicer screen.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Honestly I can understand that completely. Now that I'm used to having something shoved halfway into my skull they're starting to grow on me at least. Doesn't help that my dumbass actually only swapped out one tip for a small, I ended up putting the largest tip on the other ear and now that I've swapped both to the smallest I think I actually might end up keeping the mediums on mine. Not quite as comfy but they do get a little more low end punch going.

I did not like them at first, and I still hate how plugged up my head feels with them in (and how you can hear everything your body does). Though on the flipside, the noise isolation is absurd. Last night my dad was trying to get my attention for quite a while by talking loudly with my sister outside my open doorway which is behind me while I was listening to music at not even all that loud of a volume.

Iirc Crinacle asked KZ to make both the ZEX Pro and the CRN sound the same to see if the non CRN branded version would sell well even without Crinacle's endorsement.

Well I hope you enjoy them. 🙂

That is actually pretty damn funny if true. Especially for me because I have no idea who the hell Crinacle is, I'm completely audio illiterate and ultimately end up asking other people for help when it comes to anything audio related that goes on/in my head.

Though it's also something that gets easier as you use IEMs more and more.

This is also very true, it took me longer than I will publicly admit to figure out how the flying fuck these things were supposed to go. Hell, I thought the actual driver bits were side-specific for at least [REDACTED AMOUNT OF TIME]. Now though it's almost like my AirPods where I just immediately know how they go, even without cheating by looking at which side has the mic which I will literally never use.

The USB C to lightning cable inside doesn't feel like it's of great quality, very plasticky, I'm not entirely surprised they (used to hopefully) break so easily.

That is something I noticed going from the iPhone 7 I got in 2020? to the 13PM I got earlier this year. They did get a bit stiffer and less rubbery. But as long as you don't pick your phone up by the cable and use it as a flail, the cables hold up just fine. I used the cable from the 7 up until just a few months ago and it's held up great. Only "defect" with it is where I rolled over it with a chair and cracked the housing on the Lightning end.

Part of that is the "noiseiness" of the stock cables (Anything that touches a "noisy" cable creates noise that your ear picks up). Premium cables shouldn't have that problem. i

A lot of IEMs are like that. Though with this pair it is especially the case.

The CRN was a collaboration between KZ (a Chinese IEM brand) and Crinacle (an audio youtuber). His OG channel got yeeted so he's now Crinacle+ . He's super knowledgeable about audio stuff.

Unintentional side benefit of buying the version with the microphone, it takes way less time to figure out 😄.

Though when I shared a pair of my KZs with a family member, even after using it a few times they had no idea which side was which.

Though when they tried my ZS 10 Pro X using the AZ09 Bluetooth earhooks it wasn't as much of a struggle.

They're not but the cable tells the audio device what sound to play in what driver so they might as well be side specific.

Current parts are getting a bit long in the tooth now. Figured may as well grab a few new bits whilst they were on sale & I could afford them. 13th gen is far too expensive here in Aus & the ITX boards for 12th gen dropped by like 30% in price here so figured I may as well.
