Herman Miller Embody

976154116738940928.webp976154116738940928.webp976154116738940928.webp

Why am I like this.

Take my wallet away from me.

Secondhand Herman Miller Embody for a flat $900. Haggled it down from $995.
No taxes, no shipping fees from the seller.
Just had to bribe my friendo and her mom with lunch to use their car. 748522851337764904.gif?size=20

Look, listen, a’ight, new Herman Miller Embodys retail for ≈$1,700 now – and that’s not even factoring in taxes.

Now I can dump that old WorkSmart SMH2036-EC3 chair that was a (free) hand-me-down from the previous roommate / housemate.

But you can't go wrong with an HM chair--especially the holy trinity (Aeron, Mirra and Embody).

LG DualUp

Ive considered getting one at a third monitor. However I heard of some issues between that monitor and MacOS. I think there is a scaling issue or something. Plus I would have to figure out the logistics of using this with my desk or getting a new stand for it.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Got Fallout 4 yesterday for a great deal while it was still on sale:

Screenshot_20221019-171352_1.thumb.png.3e31cc13b2add53a4abfd0b024915a86.png

This is my first Fallout game and according to the people I talked to who played it, it is one of the best ones so my expectations are High.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

Decided it was time for a custom work keyboard, as well.

2109740095_20221021_1702172.thumb.JPG.9048453a8e34b638777785b137f28ce5.JPG

I was quite a bit more limited this time around, as I was basically forced to find a full-sized barebones kit that supported an ISO layout. Cue the Keychron Q6.

The kit is, obviously, an ISO keychron Q6 in navy blue, the switches are Gazzzew Boba U4 silent switches with a 68G bottom out force, and the keycaps are Tai-Hao Dark Tunnel PBT keycaps.

Keycaps can also be a bitch to find, since I needed something that came with all the keys for a full-sized keyboard that also supported Nordic (or in this case, Danish) ISO.

And to make this suitable for an open-plan office I've also stuffed the case with poly-fill, holee-modded the stabilizers and foam modded the spacebar. All made for a very quiet keyboard that's also has just the right amount of tactile feel.

The VIA and QMK support of the Keychron boards are also nothing to scuff add. Really useful for setting up application shortcuts on the four non-standard buttons on the top right of the keyboard.

Enjoy.

As much shit as Fallout 4 gets, it's a really good action-roleplaying game. Probably my second favorite of the 3D Fallout games.

I definitely recommend Optimus Fittings/ZMT Tubing/Optimus CPU Block

Then Heatkiller GPU Blocks are really good.

And obviously, from my pictures, you can tell I am a Phanteks T30 shill.

I went for ease of use on the first hardline build to make sure I don't forget anything. Shipping to Alaska takes a while and it'll have my main computer down while I build it anyways. My 9700k and 3070 won't quite do what I want of my computer.

Corsair XH305 kit, but with an added radiator, and some extra fittings. Was going to do EKWB, but again I wanted simplicity. I couldn't get a "kit" for my case (Pop XL Air) so that had me going to Corsair. I probably could have transcribed lists over to EKWB but I'll probably end up going with them next time I do this.

In Alaska can't you just air cool the system by sticking it outside in a little shed for about 1/2 the year? Run anti-freeze and a dual loop with some changeover valves to shunt to an external radiator...like outside lol.

That was a very close second, but for some reason the 5.25 bays is what had me go for the Fractal. I don't know what I'll do with them, but I'll find something.

5.25 bay reservoirs and pumps are a thing, and would be a great use of that space. I've been considering that off and on for a build but I'm pretty happy with air cooling right now, it just works which is nice.

It's a little moist outside to put the whole thing outside. I've thought about outside radiators, but it gets warm enough in the summer that it might not be worth it.

-34C in the winter would make for a hell of an overclock though.

Plus I don't really want to drill holes through the wall 😉

I'm going to see how much space is left in the case after I get this build done. I've got a couple 2 bay 5.25 to 3 3.5" hdd adapters floating around. 3 bays in front, and the 2 in the back would give me enough space to move my NAS over.... But then I don't know what I would do with that. If nothing else I'll just print a Kleenex holder for it 😉

That's why you get a 3 way ball valve so you can just shunt to the indoor loop when it's warm out. We use one to blow down the air tank on our tire changer. Flipped one way it connects air to the tool and flipped the other way it dumps air from the tool out (along with the water). You could use such a ball valve to turn on or off a leg of the loop pretty easily since you only need to shunt one pipe to change flow.

That sounds like way more work than I want to put in. Especially this close to winter. We started getting our snow a couple weeks ago already.

It would be a hell of a lot of fun, but if it happens that's way down the line.

Got BF2042 for $20 at Best Buy. Didn't want to spend $50 on a game if it's not supported for that long after getting burned on BF5. Funny they give you all this stuff when it's marked as a physical copy and there's only a digital activation code inside.

Had to buy MX-4 to use on my gaming laptop as the temps sky rocket to 90oC just at bootup. Can barely hold them down at 60oC with a maximum processor state of 66%...and 400MHz each core (10750H) while just browsing the internet. I just hope it's not gonna be a PITA to do.

Let me guess.  The manufacturer brags about it being only .44" thick or something ridiculous.
