Well welcome to the forum.  If Linus were selling it, you would have paid 2-3x as much.

And that keyboard would bother me, because I'd never be able to tell if I'd gotten it dirty.  At least...I'm gonna ASSUME that those are just special "marbelized" keys--and not filthy hands.

...Unless of course, that's just how the French like to roll.....dirty.

Oh the keyboard is not finished. the keycaps are a combination of 3 sets. While waiting for my GMK Botancal 2 set to come in.

And yes it is marbelized 🙂

The marble set is Traitors Eternity.

The alphas are from Helical Hearth on etsy

And the random extra keys like fn etc are some generic pudding keycaps I had laying around.

Fibre was finally ran down my street, so I had 900Mbps fibre service installed into my house. Quite an upgrade to my old 60-70Mbps down and 12Mbps up service.

So I nabbed an Adtran 621X ONT to terminate the fibre I had installed.

Also just ordered a Samsung S22 Ultra, will post photos tomorrow when it arrives. 🙂

Now just need to pick a dbrand skin for it..

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Ended up picking up a PowerSucker 9000 (Strix 2080 OC) for not a bad price. My card isn't a particularly good undervolter and ends up drawing a pretty healthy amount more than my 1070 AMP did. Coil whine is somehow worse but better (worse in that I think it might actually be worse facing it, but its better from the other side of the case).

The most amusing thing for me is that this triple fan monster... is basically the same height and width as a 1070 AMP. The PCIe connectors plopped right into place as if nothing happened.

Don't have any pictures yet, but I bought a couple GPUs for parts. One is a 1660 Super that supposedly has issues with the Nvidia driver. It was only $70, so I'll see if I get lucky or not. The other card is an HP OEM RTX 2070 Super. This card works, but it failed a stress test. Not sure what the actual issue might be, but for $150 it's worth it to me.

If either of these cards end up working (either as they are or after any repairs I might do) I'll probably just put them to use as dedicated Folding@home cards. The 1660 Super would fit nicely alongside my 1660 Ti that I use for folding. They're both Dell OEM cards, and they have fairly loud coolers.

More keycap fun for me, bought a set of Gradient PBT shine through keycap for my Ducky Shine (will have to check which model it is as I have too many Duckys). Also got an Orico 10gbps external case for a Crucial P1 500GB NVMe M.2 2280 SSD that I'm gonna be using when I'm overseas.

spacer.png

Also got a set of 104 G. Skill Crystal Crown keycaps, since it's just 104 keycaps, I'd had to get a set of blank R4 keycaps to fill in the top right (media keys I think), doesn't matter to me as I don't use 'em anyway. Oh yeah, this is one of my fav keyboards, Ducky Shine 2 78 Edition. These G. Skill keycaps are of much better quality than those Pudding keycaps I'd gotten earlier.

Nabbed a USB C charger dock thingy majiggy.

My only USB chargers don't have PPS, so my S22 Ultra will only charge at 10W.

Well. My GTX1070 appears to be toast 😢 So I just found an RTX3070 on eBay for $600 AUD, considering GPU's are still stupidly priced here, I managed to get it for ~$350 less than current retail.

Just got off the phone to BT as my Landline/Broadband and one of my mobiles was up for renewal.  I've gone on to Fiber Halo 3+ with a free AP and what they call an 'always connected' device.  Apparently this thing sits plugged in to only power.  Watching for when my Smart Hub 2 makes a fatal mistake and swoops in taking over the WiFi. Keeping me connected to this ever digital age.  Sounds really intriguing.  So i'll post some piccies when it comes and describe the setup process.  Might call them see if i can set up the 'WiFi in every room' AP they're sending me for free in the basement or out in the garden somewhere.  Plus they're dropping my monthy charge for Landline and Broadband by a tenner each month.

As for the Mobile.  They're kicking everyone off BT Mobile now and on to EE (the two companies have been merging for years at this point) and although my Mobile will be £2.60 a month dearer.  I'll have a brand new Pixel 6a (up from my 4a) and 250GB of data each month (up from 30)

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Got my Pixel 6a.  Feels a lot nicer and weightier that the 4a.  It's also a little bigger.  I'll post some thoughts on it in the coming weeks
