Stopped by the thrift store and picked this up for $5. Comes with the shoulder strap as well and think I'm gonna use it as an accessory on my belt with one of my Lowepro bags.

with a pair of new wireless devices, i went and ordered an adaptor that plugs into a motherboard header and turns it into two USB type-a ports so i can set my receivers inside the case. works as expected and saves a pair of ports on the back. If I'm lucky, it might, in theory anyway, make for a better wireless connections as they are closer and there's less metal case between the mouse/keyboard, and the recimage.thumb.jpeg.05448d6615fef71f4e041cc6162c8eaa.jpegeivers.

Don't know how common it is elsewhere, but in Switzerland, with most employment contracts we get 13 salaries, meaning that you get paid out two times as much in November. It's typically done to make sure people have money for both Christmas, as well as to pay their insurances that often are due in January. Since I already set aside plenty during the year for both that and taxes, I get to use all that money for my own pleasures.

So I treated myself to a Kemper Profiler PowerHead along with the remote footswitch.

image.thumb.jpeg.9c0b008318fe4165540f32253b55fbe3.jpeg

It's quite a bit more expensive than the regular Profiler, because it has a built-in 600 Watt amplifier intended to drive an external speaker cabinet, which I certainly want to do.

I've always been wary of purely digital guitar amplifiers, because most of the stuff I've tried in the past really wasn't satisfactory. You either had something that produced terrible sound or had a noticeable delay. That delay was typically in the tens of microseconds. Not strictly audible, but long enough to be felt while playing, which made it terrible to use. I also have a bunch of digital amp sims in my DAWs, and they only manage to produce a few decent sounds.

This one is intended to model (or "profile", as Kemper likes to put it) real gear by recording your playing into it and it then tries to replicate what it hears. I only have limited interest in doing that, because chances are someone else already modelled my exact setup. And since I can just download all the profiles on the Kemper website, I now have an almost limitless range of sounds at my disposal.

I've played around with it for a few hours, mostly with the head, not so much the remote, just to get familiar with it. There are 300+ profiles preloaded on the device and I already found a few killer sounds in there. So far I haven't noticed a difference between playing this or a real pure valve amp, it behaves exactly as I'd expect an amp to behave. And I've seriously lost myself for like a solid 20 minutes in one sound, just playing and enjoying it without noticing anything other than the guitar in my hands. That's the feeling I want to have while playing.

And now a word from our sponsor: 💩

Got a lil Quadro P400 for the OptiPlex 9020 I've decided to turn into a capture rig (at least it will be until I get something for analog capture). Stupid thing is in basically brand spanking new condition for somewhere around the $34 range which is mind blowing.

So the fan for my little quadro came from Ali Express.  Quite a simple swap (once I found the tiny little screw hidden in the corner) as I got the slightly more expensive version with the bracket already on the fan saving me a bunch of time on install.  It's whisper quiet now.  And blasts through modern triple A stuff with ease.  Here's a final picture of the system it's in now it's truly, truly finished 😄 😄 😄

and yes... I do at some point, want to dig the wood out and mount the power button properly one day.  That can wait though.  It's ready for some 'temporary base' gaming 🙂

Hand made iTX chassis from an old chopping board, some Perspex and a few bits of random hardware (including a drawer handle)

this cd took 3 months to ship, vaporwave labels on bandcamp can be hit and miss, at least if showed up (unlike my Dreamcast controller from 2 years ago)

I got it because

1) it’s a fun album

2) the cd is entirely black on both sides

Antlion ModMic Wireless, bought the ModMic USB 3 years ago and it's great but since I want all Peripherals (so Keyboard, Mouse, Headphones and ModMic) to be Wireless for the Desk setup I bought it now. Once they'll finally come out with an Updated USB C Version I'll happily buy that but for now Micro B it is. So to charge the ModMic I got a Micro B Magnetic Breakaway Cable. Also already got the USB Hub, so that I can have the Hub via a USB extension Cable on the Desk and my Tower on the floor. The USB C to C cable is to be able to easily plug my Smartphone into my Desktop:

Even though the ModMic Wireless came out "just" 5 years ago, the color of the Plastics look like it's much older.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.
