SweClockers are among the most accurate sources of NVIDIA leaks you can find. Today they report that second generation Maxwell will be released in fourth quarter. It is believed that the launch of GeForce GTX 880 and GeForce GTX 870 is set somewhere between October and November.

First GeForce GTX 800 graphics cards are expected to launch on second generation Maxwell architecture, which is supposedly updated with ARM cores.

From what we’ve learned NVIDIA has completely canceled GM100 chips. Full scale development is now focused on GM200 parts.

Leaked import-export data from Zauba already revealed that NVIDIA is preparing GM204 processor, which is most likely a successor to GK104. It is said that GM204 would equipped with 8GB GDDR5 memory and 256-bit interface. It could be a mobile variant though. We already covered this story more than a month ago, and we are not really sure, why was it such hot topic this week.

Last, but not least we should mention that GM200 GPUs are still using 28nm fabrication process.
It is highly unlikely we are going to see any 18/20nm graphics processor this year.

I don't care for 800 series anymore, according to original rumors they were supposed to launch 4 months ago, then around this time, then autumn, now winter, yet I doubt they will create an affordable (<$500) card that is able to run 2014/2015 games at 4K >60FPS. 

I'm getting a 290 by the end of June and keep that until we get some real improvement.
