Did your interest for technology came from your parents?

We all love technology, otherwise we would not be on this forum and we would not read this post.

But how did you get interested in technology? Did your parents stimulate you to learn more about technical things or did you just play around on the internet?

My parents know very little about computers and technology. I have been playing around on the internet, trying to set up a Minecraft server and BOOM! I loved technology and I still do.

Very good, thank you.

My dad leads a small company that deals with publisher software, so we allways had some form of the latest tech at home. I had a PC with my brother since i was 5 or 6, of course an old one from the company. I formated Floppies as a job (2.5 cents each) to buy sweets.

Yes, i would say my parents did engourage my techy-ness.

who cares...

My dad is the one who got me interested in PC gaming and gave me his old computer when he got a new one. Thats about it though, I've only recently been interested in PC building/parts. I've always been amazed at how PC's work, they're so complex and we take them for granted all the time.

I remember my dad playing PC games when I was a kid, so I guess that got me into computers and gaming. He doesn't play anymore though.

I would say my mom did, first time I saw the inside of a computer was because of her adding ram to one.

I guess I'm unlike most people here. My dad is a software engineer and I learned a lot about computers itself before I went into hardware. From then on he didn't help much, and now I help out with a lot of things, but I don't think I would of been here without him =D

My parents don't know anything about tech...

My interest in tech is just a byproduct of what I deemed nessesary knowledge as a PC gamer, to learn about the different components and what I need to play games at X settings.

That and the fact that if you're willing to actually read the instructions, you learn quite a lot. My mother has difficulties reading simple instructions that appear and she always call me to know what to do... even if the screen clearly tells her that "flash player wants to update click OK to continue" (paraphrasing, but you get my drift), so yeah...
