You talking about me? Many ways for me to remove it. Just wanted to share the experience. I have to leave the country tonight and will be back in two months, so if it is still there in two months, I'll get it removed without paying a dime for sure.

No I was talking about the parking police trying to tell you that you had to pay because the driver could not be identified, the very idea of that is ridiculous because there are other ways of identifying a vehicle and seeing as that is part of their job they should know this.

 

Was not aimed at you at all, I sympathise with your situation, it's very frustrating.

Well, there are some problems with that. There is no proof of purchase so there is no notarized title on the car. He also doesn't have the key, even if he got a lock smith he has to pay for the key to be programmed to the car. But it would be freaking awesome to get a free HHR, they're pretty nice cars.

I'd see what the laws are regarding abandoned cars. Try to obtain the car if it's been left there. Free money or transportation if you can obtain possession.

 

Should bring the owner out of hiding if nothing else.  :)

Get a tuff truck and pull the guys car out yourself. Then park it in the middle of the street so the parking people have to take it away.

I thought so, each car that my family has owned the key was programmed to the car, witch is odd because my dads truck from 2000 has a programmed key.

I think its pretty useless. I prefer cars without all this fancy technology stuff when you use to go as fast as far you were willing to press the pedal. now its all computer monitored and stuff.

Yeah, but the programmed key is to prevent someone from copying the key and getting away with the truck. At least that's what the ford dealer told me and my dad

as far as I know, if they can make a copy of my car key, they must have my key already.

Have the cops check it properly when you get back. They should be able to search the car and maybe find a service bill or something with the cars registration number on it.

Otherwise there might be a secondairy vin plate on the inside of the door. On the door frame/body. 

Considering how it's been left in what looks like an underground parking garage without plates or vin number i'd guess it might be stolen...

Then if they still refuse to tow it i'd check up on the laws concerning abandoned property and possibly taking the car.

Just tell them it isn't yours, you're not paying a bill for someone else's car, and they can do whatever they want with it.

This is a blessing in disguise!!! I would just sell it as is or strip it and sell piece by piece until theres a frame sitting there. Then find the owner and return just the frame with 4 wheels on it :lol:

I wouldn't try to start the car, that's sketchy when it's not registered and no plates.

My action movie self is telling me it could be like some thing if you start the car it

My guess is that somebody needs to pay the cost of the tow truck up front, and since it's a private parking spot, the city doesn't want to eat the cost. I'm just guessing though, I don't exactly know much about the subject matter.

They can check the VIN # to see who it is registered to. They do it a lot.

I'd just consult your local police and find out if it is a crime to sell the vehicle. Technically it is yours if there was no agreement between you and the car's owner for storage of the car.
