I have to pay for other people's parking fines?

Prikk

OK...

So this guy parked in my private parking space for I don't know how long, and took his license plate out.

post-7946-0-54568200-1398889722_thumb.jp

Haven't been back for 4 months and suddenly this car is just dumped there. There's lots of dust build up on the windshield so I guess it should have been left there for a good couple of weeks or months.

post-7946-0-19649000-1398889727_thumb.jp

TOW IT AWAY.. RIGHT?

Parking Police came and told me I have to pay $88.88 plus tax to remove it because it is un-platted therefore we don't know where or who the owner is. What the heck?  The car hasn't been registered in 4 years, and now it is just dumped on my parking space and I have to pay for it removed.

So literally, here in Ontario, you can park in someone else's private property, take your license plate out, and they will have to pay for it to be removed. Fair? Very Fair...

All the police can do is left this arbitrary scare note on the windshield and hoping the owner come and remove it...

hook it up to another car  and tow it yourself out at night, leave it in the middle of the drive path

+1 except that last part, because he would be a dick to everyone in the parking lot

Hire a forklift and drag it out? If its an automatic it would damage the transmission though. Try calling the police first?

Hey now.. If I dragged this to the Visitor's parking, it would be in the building's property and not mine. That way, they will have to pay for it. Genius!

No. lol I don't really need to parking now, but if they just dumped it there, I'll find a way to take the damn car and sell it.

My guess is that somebody needs to pay the cost of the tow truck up front, and since it's a private parking spot, the city doesn't want to eat the cost. I'm just guessing though, I don't exactly know much about the subject matter.

Is there a VIN they can check?

Smash a window, release the handbrake and there you are, tow it with your own car.

Police checked it. Last time it was platted legally was in 2010. So yea.. maybe I can really take the freaking car lol

I would stick it on trollies and manuverit in between two columns or a tight spot that a car should other wise not be able to get there so when the owner does return he cant get the car out.

HHR's are front-wheel drive.

Maybe try to get into the car, since there might be some info on the owner inside of it.

Go to a junkyard and tell the guy who works there he can have the car, if he removes it. Do you have a lawyer? Contact him.

Police checked it. Last time it was platted legally was in 2010. So yea.. maybe I can really take the freaking car lol

So they know the owner from 2010. The cops need to contact that guy.

Depends on your view of "illegal." If it's unlocked... I don't see why not.
