I learned a long time ago that sometimes you just have to say WTF and pull the trigger. I was going to hold off a couple of years until the 4000-series are cheaper but I really like EVGA Cards and they will be gone forever soon. And then there is the whole 3-slot problem ...

Nah I actually want a meaningful PPD boost over the now spread out pascal cards I have. My current 1070ti gets 700k-1.1m ppd depending on the WU's and the days if it managed to cram in a fourth or fifth WU. 3.6M PPD is still more in 1 card than both 1070ti's and my 1080ti. 

I might get the FTW3 card though because..... I really like the FTW3 cards. Got a 970, 1070ti and a 1080ti..... It would fell unjust to get a black or ultra since theyre all the same price, space savings be damned!

I have a 3080 FTW3 and it has all the bling. Got it for $649US It's in my Fractal Define S which doesn't have a PSU shroud so it actually fits in the lower slot. Not that you can see the RGB as that chassis has solid side panels ...

I grew up playing on a riva 128 in a second hand P2 system. wasn't much but it got the job done.

the 3700U and Vega 10 that's in the plex server I have now is for that generation the equivalent of 3090ti in the iGPU product stack iirc. all the chips started as 3700u w/ vega 10 and then were binned accordingly based on capability.

On the whole I also like EVGA cards but I was really disappointed with the designed of the xc3 models, they were ok for 3070ti models and lower, but they struggle to cool higher wattage cards like the 3080's. No thermal pads on the back of the card to transfer heat to the metal backplate, and no screws to mount pressure over the power delivery on one side of the card, which is a first and I don't think I've ever seen before. 

 

My cards would throttle due to high memory temps so I needed to replace the thermal pads, this was very difficult on the side of the card with no screws, pads on the memory would slightly bend the pcb increasing the gap over the power components, and putting slightly thicker pads on the power delivery would bend the pcb away from the memory. Even with 0.3mm pads it was not possible to achieved good balance of contact pressure on both components, the side with the screws had no issues.

I haven't noticed any issues with my 3080s but that is likely as I run them at 1440MHz which lands Tdie at under 60C as the lower card in dual GPU systems.

Mine only hits around 74C at 1950Mhz, no overclock or power limit changes, just curve optimiser.  Of course its the only card in the system with plenty of intake space.

 

My 2080 is folding at 1785Mhz 71C (hot spot is 93C though I really could do with replacing the thermal pads) but with insanely noisy blower fan maxed out.  I'm just hoping it holds out long enough to move that into my desktop (its in my AI upscaler box) where I wont push it as hard.

That's the one that came with my Ryzen 7 2700. I'm not big into RGB, but I thought the LED ring looked pretty nice on that cooler. I gave it away when I upgraded to a Scythe Fuma 2 though, so no more RGB cooler for me.

It came with teh 1700 too, which is where I got mine, I swapped to an AIO from mastercool with only a white light up golo. I wish it didn't have it but I cba taking the block apart to take out the light. Have considered some kind of vinyl but it doesn't bother me that much

Well I wonder if I can fold on my ltt screw driver or water bottle that just shipped

mad a side note: I will have 4 30series(2x mobile) and a 20 series and 5700xt. Will see how I do

Mac Mini has settled at 113k with 4 threads (no idea what clocks Asahi Linux is using), which is actually impressive given my 12400F has settled at 244k with 8 threads at 4.22Ghz-4.5Ghz.

Yeah, so this is native ARM64 code vs MacOS where I believe the client runs on Rosetta 2?

 

Steam deck doing 75K on CPU and no OpenCL libraries so no GPU.

Same here no new gear since last event…and i may be done with vCards till power returns to “Normal” And likely done with nvidia as EVGA was the only reason i bought Nvidia cards…Will see what AMD does as i do want to upgrade my 5700xt

My 2600x is going anywhere between 76k-110k depending on the value of the value of the project. Currently it's 8.5% into a ~375k project with 3.14 days remaining.

Exactly, the architecture improvements that AMD has made to their Ryzen line have been insane, what was a binned upper middle chip to run at 105W is now being matched by a mobile SOC. Gotta love innovation.

I went up to 80k when I closed Firefox, can't run FAHControl and it seems ports are firewalled so I can't view the stats any other way.  Wish I could see what the GPU could do though but don't want to mess up the OS trying to open OpenCL on there.

Just adjusted it again down 2 more threads, CPU render time didn't change, but GPU render time just dropped 2 hrs in the past 15 min.
