I think this now counts as a four slot cooler... don't tell Nvidia, they may copy from you and make it the standard

They have the optional back fan for push/pull configs on them now.  They already stole his IP.

These AMD fans have the right diameter to fit on gpu's, and are designs for heatsinks, so actually do a good job.

Might not be the best solution if you are using a small case, and doesn't play nice with other pice devices 😄

Has there been word on which retailers will be selling them?

I had a quick look on Intel's website and I couldn't any mention of retailers, googling I only found Newegg.

With how killer the ARC cards are at synthetic workloads and compute: I wonder if they'd make powerhouse folding cards.......

Looking through the cards I have I remembered that I've got a 2080 Ti that I'm not using right now. I bought it very cheap as a broken card, and while it does work it has VRAM issues. I'm curious to see if Folding@home would still work if I can manage to get the Nvidia driver installed properly. Has anyone ever tried this before? It would be great to put to use for folding month.

Ha ha, yeah I'm going to. I've got this 2080 Ti, a 2070 Super and a 1660 Super that all need to be baked. Guess I'll do that this weekend if I have time...

well the total usage of vram on my card is sitting right around 2gb with windows running, so as long as it stays within the working chips maybe?

I mean, if you have a few that need it just a decent heatgun and actually reflow them

I've got to find the heat gun. It's been a good few months since I last used it. If not I've got an old toaster oven that would likely do the trick. It can't be used for food anymore, so no worries there.

Lmao, it's nothing too crazy. To cut a long story short the toaster oven in question (which is actually a pretty nice Cuisinart unit) ended up getting left outside in a thunderstorm overnight about a year ago. It was full of standing water and debris for a while before I realized what had happened. It's been replaced, and I kept it for non-food purposes.

My dual RX 570 office PC has been doing better than usual today - it's been around 950K PPD. I haven't gotten a chance to replace the failed fan on my older 570 yet, but I put it back into service anyways. At higher speeds it works fine.

According to F@H my plucky 480 is 13.08% above average. My GPU is now significantly better at organic chem than I am at 496.5k estimated PPD

when you say According to F@H do you mean the chrome plug-in? If so then it's not F@H but it is infact @LAR_Systems own database that he manages himself

Yeah, LAR is the one telling me that I'm above average.

Think it would do any better if it was switched to compute in driver settings?

Edit: the answer to "is compute better?" Very no. PPD dropped by about 12%.
