Most of us run without CPU folding these days, it's nice to run it if you want as there's some things that they can't do on GPGPUs so require being a CPU WU. I may fire up the cores on my 5960x 'Foldatron' system will see how I feel

On Linux I managed to get one of the APU GPUs working, but only for a short time.  On Windows, I was able to get "GPU" folding working on the 3000 series and 5000 series of Radeon desktop APUs.  I found they generally worked, but CPU folding was more points performance and less wattage, and the package wattage change was enough to slow everything down massively if I tried both.  points/watt was also best when using just the number of physical cores (not hyperthreading, though it was enabled so everything stayed snappy for normal use), for the CPU folding.  If you want super efficiency, undervolt with a small underclock on everything while running RAM in a 1:1:1 with fclock.  I was able to fold and use the system completely normally that way under linux on only 60-65w at the wall with the R5's, and at about 70W with the R7 5700G I'm running in that linux box now.  It'll be my primary fold through the event, with a few old xeons and other stuff popping in here and there.

restart folding

you should now be able to use advanced control on a remote pc to manage it

Those got me started...that was truly ground breaking stuff, doing pass through from the 2d card for textures and it being truly just 3d rendering on top of that before sending out the final signal.  I did a LOT of gaming with those on the Bungie Myth games.

Still don't think most games hold up to the quality of those...though I do like myself some Heroes of the Storm, despite the mismanagement of the development and esports portions of it.

I was in San Jose for meetings when Quake II launched and got to buy a copy at a Fry's on launch day. I still have my Wolfenstein 3D Floppies.

I played some of that stuff, but I made my name (where my handle comes from, Poetic Justice), and my only real first person stuff beyond the Marathon series (which was awesome) during Unreal.  I used the teleporter and hunted all the god mode no damage cheat folks and telefrag killed them.

My dual RX 570 office PC has been doing better than usual today - it's been around 950K PPD. I haven't gotten a chance to replace the failed fan on my older 570 yet, but I put it back into service anyways. At higher speeds it works fine.

Pro tip, buy them in two sets over two WAN shows to get the best chance to get the message seen

Good idea. I'll set a reminder to get a couple this Friday and a couple next week. I could also get one more on the 28th as sort of a last call as well if you think that would be helpful.

Thanks, already done that but for some reason its not connecting yet nmap says the port is open when checking from another PC.  Not the first time FAHClient has done this though and given I use the Steam Deck a lot for its intended purpose, its not like I will be folding on it much anyway, was just curious how it performed.

Try a power cycle then. That's what usually does the trick on Windows. You could also try:

telnet <host ip> 36330

then you should have a open console. Windows TELNET doesn't work but PuTTY will

@GOTSpectrum Being year 5, new GPUs and CPUs coming out, and this being a particularly expensive energy time in history to do this, any chance LTT will throw in a GPU like they did a few years ago, or a CPU?  Even if they're last gen they aren't keeping for continued testing, that'd be sick for most folks here.  I don't know who/how that happened back then though.
