$130 for a card... Hmm... Hmm... I can buy 13 indie albums with that kind of money here... 

Also screw Dragonball or Naruto, Card Captor Sakura was my gateway anime (Along with Kobato, the first slice of life anime I've ever watched and the first to have a time travel element to it), and I didn't know that it was a Madhouse production until recently and I didn't realise how the animation and art still holds strong up to this day...

 

 

@MyInnerFredSend another invite to me, preferably early in the evening since then that will be around the time I most likely check the forum :P

2) It's not a card it is an animation cel.  As in it is one of the actual pieces of celluloid that had the art carefully painted onto it and was then layered over other celluloid sheets, such as the background. to make a complete image and then photographed to make a frame of animation.  It quite literally is a piece of the animation process that has been resting in a bag for some 19 years since that episode was produced.  I imagine you think it is card because there is a piece of cardboard behind the celluloid sheet to protect the paint on the back and to allow you to act as a background on an otherwise transparent medium.

I really need to get back into anime - I only realised that after I fully rewatched K-On! a few weeks back.

 

Have there been any standout shows from the past year or so?

 

EDIT: Are you guys still doing the weekly anime thing? I might join you for that from now on.

Ah, WWI... I am always amazed at the creativity of anime authors to turn something fractural and historical into outright absurdity. I remember a similar anime but more absurd. The plot is about the communist East German government drafting Lolis into the military to pilot giant robots and fight space alien invaders.

19? I always thought that show came out in 2004 because that was first time I had seen the anime.(I was 5 at the time)

Well, I'm actually a LITTLE off, it's 18, my bad.  But the final episode, 'Sakura And Her True Feelings' aired in March 2000, so the cel would have been produced no more than 2-3 months prior to the episode's airing.

I'm new to anime and would like to get into it ive watched sao and my hero academia ... nothing else  i dont have crunchy roll's premium and the 15 ad's that come up (its a crazy amount prob not fully 15 but yea...) i kinds want something ad free plz i have netflix and hulu.... uhhhh idk like i said idk anime but i always like the art style and storys of shows ive heard from other people can ya plz help :)

Natsume Yuujinchou - one of my favorites

Mushishi - pretty good episodic slice of life series. 

 

You can give Toradora a try if you want some slice of life with romance in it, it's a bit old but was pretty popular.
