Wanted to see if I could squeeze you into an AM5 build for not that much more money ($61.43 more), without compromising too much on quality parts.

Let me know what you think or if that's even doable for you (IMO, I'd say it's worth it for longevity: many more options in the future on AM5; whereas with AM4 you are either upgrading to a 5600X3D, 5700X3D, or 5800X3D and that's about it):

There's way better Ram for not much more money (6000CL30 $87)

I agree, 6000 MT/s is definitely recommended for this platform, and I had it originally but wanted to save the money instead to get it to $1000 even instead of going over:

Memory: Silicon Power XPOWER Zenith Gaming 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory ($86.99 @ Amazon)

Adds $9.01 to the build. At that point I'd also do this, just to get the best VfM:

Storage: TEAMGROUP T-Force Cardea Z44Q 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($105.99 @ Amazon)

This 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe is the same price as the original Gen3 M.2 NVMe drive choice.

I would definitely spring for these parts and save up slightly more money if I had to, as I'd say it's definitely worth the performance increases that come along with it.

He could also save the cooler and use the boxed one. At least for a start.

I was thinking about that too, as that would slice a nice $20 off basically.

However, according to reviews: the Ryzen 5 7600 comes with the Wraith Stealth Cooler, not the better Wraith Prism cooler found on the Ryzen 7 7700 or Ryzen 9 7900. Consequently, resulting in poor performance and thermal throttling according to many reviews and even various reports on Reddit. Most people as a result were recommended a cheap aftermarket cooler to get the most performance out of it.

There are those who say the stock Wraith Stealth can adequately cool the 7600 with adjusted PBO Curve Optimizer settings though. However, one of the downfalls is still with the stock cooler is it can get too loud for most (the Stealth can get up to 42dB at 100% fan speed, supposedly).

If @NorfStaaar doesnt mind the noise etc, better RAM, motherboard, with just the stock cooler

I hope you're all having a good day 🙂

pretty bad for almost 1000$ considering its still on am4 (which is irrelevant if the cpu + mobo cost >150$ due to lga1700 and am5, best bought used) and the ssd mobo psu are overpriced and/or not optimal

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/j47G4M

7700x + 6800 + 32gb 6000c32

microcenter 7700x bundle covers the cpu mobo and rams

6800 instead of the 7700xt as it has 4gb extra vram and it usually outperforms the 7700xt or atleast performs similarly to it

id personally reccomend buying a used 6800xt as those should be abit cheaper or maybe even a used 6900xt/6950xt depending on how low you can find em but if you dont wanna go looking around for a used gpu a new 6800 is a valid choice

ssd has been upgraded cause it wasnt that much more over a dram gen3 (mushkin tempest)

i did cut abit on the psu but you can find used 850w+ rm(x) or equivalent around the price of that 650bp so thats up to you, besides you can upgrade the psu in the future if you need more capacity, maybe something like an 850w gf1 or a ud1000gm or whatever unit that has a 10 year warranty
