Summary

Amazon is targeting Fakespot an app that analyzes and identifies fake reviews in addition to third-party sellers on Amazon and ebay. Few weeks ago, Amazon reported that app to Apple due to concerns of security and data breach. Ultimately got removed from the App Store. CEO of Fakespot; Saoud Khalifah wrote on his website that Amazon has also launched a PR attach against Fakespot and has bought keywords for Fakespot in order to avoid having people from learning about them.

My thoughts

If what Amazon is doing is true, then I believe this raises more questions about the reviews on their website. I personally tend to read reviews before making a purchase, having an app like Fakespot helps users make better purchases and avoid them from wasting money on time on bad/fake products.

If this is true, this is ammo to use against Amazon, in regards to fraud. At least from what I know.

Makes sense considering all of Amazon is just fake reviews, paid reviews, black hatted reviews, and essentially lying and fraud. Amazon was good 6 years ago but is absolute shit now. Even their website is shit and just uses images in places they shouldn't design wise.

I'm not sure about that. I get there is an anti-amazon circlejerk, but these guys could easily just be playing into that and trying to profit off the anti-amazon crowd. Just look at their doublespeak.

Amazon is a shady company.

Here is one (of several) incidents.
Once I bought an ethernet-USB adapter for my computer (wireless/bluetooth are a no no where we live, unless you want to get hacked left and right, but that's another story). I chose one of the cheapest, and it worked - so a few months later I searched for, in order to buy another one. After pages and pages of fruitless search I gave up. Then a few days later the article came back again.
Evidently Amazon knew that they could not squeeze a little more $ from me, so it's them who gave up.

No I don't trust reviews. I installed, then removed, many apps like Hotwire, Trip Advisor, Urban Spoon ...
