Is Nvidia being trolled ?? - Medicines and drug advertisements as post on Nvidia forum

Hello guys,

I've recentlly joined Nvidia forum, today i've clicked feed section to  check out what is proposed to me by Nvidia and found some weird sh*p to say the least ....

There are hips of posts/ads(that's what they effectively are) about medicines, weed, and other drugs which you can buy online without prescription ...aside of drug usage problem, especially without any professional supervision and advice,  is this a right place to post that?

And if not, why is it allowed on a forum, which moderate usser avatars (they must be aproved before hand) in fear they would end up being "offensive" to someone ?

If anyone can use some kind of algoritm to filter those things out it's nvidia ... so? Why?  What's going on ?

I'd genuinely like to hear someone comment or opinion.

Why?

NVIDIA doesn't want to spend money on moderating their forums. It's just that simple.

Looks like a forum without (active) moderation.

Those sorts of topics also pop up here from time to time, it's just the mods here take them down within minutes (or seconds).

Seems like Nvidia is lacking in the mod and spam detection department.

We get the same kind of posts here. But mods clean them up. It's spam/ads. Not something you want in a forum but something you inevitably get if anyone can register and no one polices the posts.

It's spam. Every forum or website that allows user generated content has to deal with posts such as those. If there's a report option then you should report those posts.

If Nvidia is reading this and needs someone to keep their forum clean from spam, I am available. Will work for RTX 3090's, or I'm fine with cash if you don't have any available stock. Have your people call my people.

I'd update that to say enthusiast grade GPUs. Otherwise you'll still be paid in 3090s 20 years down the line when no one cares about them anymore 😄

The NVidia forum was (the last time I looked at it) a very sad place without moderation.

TL;DR not a troll, just the internet without mods keeping it clean

Yeah, but as i wrote you  can't even post your avatar without it being looked into.

Can't you filter it somehow ?? Keywords like, i don't know, drug name's or something. couldn't those post be stopped like that? Especially while being one of the largest AI using companies in the world ?

Of course you could set up filters.... if you were willing to pay for someone to do it.

it's clear they don't want to bother.

plus, with every step forward in protecting against spam, the spammers also take a step forward in getting around it. it's a perpetual cat and mouse game, which you have to put a good amount of effort into counter-act.

You could use filters, but what they are spamming changes daily, sometimes multiple times a day. As soon as you filter one thing they move on to something else. Then you're just left dealing with a bunch of false positives where legitimate posters accidentally hit the filter.

Who actually knows how much more spam is already being filtered or removed? Maybe what you can see there is just the tip of the iceberg.

Looking at that amount of spam though I'm sure they could do more to deal with the problem if they had people spend the time on it.

It's a sad reality of how the corporate system works.  You actually think the company is all that and on top of the game.  Meanwhile, it's all just bullshit to keep you buying products.  Look how bad tech support is for Dell, or literally any other company in the world.  Their empires are built on houses of lies.

Agreed, and they probably left some "acceptable" amount of it. But, how much is to much though? Porn ? Or scams? Or something even worse ?

As others said, it's just spam without moderation. I bet it's probably a bot of some kind that spam such posts around many forums.

Nvidia doesn't seem to give a crap since it's just a consumer-based forum.

On the other hand, their developer forum is pretty ok and has no such spam.

Well, those posts advertising websites selling medication and other such things are scams.

Is the developer forum invite only or require more verification to join? It might just be more actively moderated. Looking at the user list there's quite a few moderators I can see.
