If Apple never made AirPods, but another company made them, would you still buy them?

Imagine the following scenario, Apple didn’t make wireless headphones but there was another company that made basically the same hardware.

would you still buy them?

I think you probably won’t.

And I also think that there would be less people using true wireless earbuds and those would probably look less like white earbuds where somebody just cut off the wires.

 

Do you agree with me?

Do you think most people just buy them because of the software implementation and the fact they are made by Apple?

If they are cheaper, have a decent sound quality, is durable, and the battery lasts long enough for me to listen to music or YouTube for 6+ hours, yes

I wouldnt buy them no matter who makes them, they are just too small for me to not drop them easily and worst of all, notice that I dropped them.

No clue what an AirPod is.  I don't keep track of Apple products. I don't buy them.

I'm personally not a huge fan of wireless earbuds anyway. I prefer over-ear headphones. But if I was to get a pair of true-wireless earbuds, I certainly wouldn't base my choice on whether the box has an apple logo on it.

Probably not. It's the seamless integration that is appealing. I'd stick with wireless earphones, like my Sony XM-whatever.

Same here, ones that go into your ears are uncomfy and really lack the SQ and background sound isolation a good pair of overears can do.

I'm an Android user with Airpods Pro. I had no intention of going Airpods at all but after having returned other true wireless (for poor connectivity and/or sound and/or microphone issues) and lurked reviews for two months, it was the only one that fit my criteria.

 

It is somewhat annoying that I can't use all functionality. I can toggle between transparent mode (or whatever it's called) and active noise cancelling, but not passive.  But I'm quite happy with them.

It’s also that they executed the idea better. Wireless earbuds before AirPods in general were pretty bad. Same could be said for the iPod. MP3 players certainly existed before it but the iPod was a better product by a mile and pushed competitors to do better.

No. Relatives of mine had bluetooth headphones with similar profiles to air pod. I wasn't interested in them. This was before air pod were announced. 

 

I dislike wireless technology because of battery but that's not why I'm not interested. For one they're easy to lose. Second I don't really use headphones except at my computer where I have really good wired ones.

The only thing i am intrested in are the PODS not the 1/4 th eaten apple logo with some light at below it.
If it has good bass, battery life durability and are cheap than eaten apple  then i would try.
Yet i dont like airpods because of their too small size to drop and loose.

half the reason i bought them was for the ease of use with my iphone apple watch etc

i bought the power beats pro because beats is now owned by apple and the software implementation is so much better than other wireless headphones.

Nope. Any sort of microwave frequency (wi-fi, bluetooth, etc) so close is a health hazard.

It really makes you think about all the consoles sold with no Airplane Mode and no wired controllers (even the Switch when played on TV doesn't have the option for microwave-free gaming), all the phones, all the bluetooth, all the phone towers, etc.

 

All of us are on on the slow kill, but you can take some measures to minimise exposure. Wi-fi and bluetooth are depopulation tools. Growing bodies are particularly affected. We are only now starting to see a world where children are born exposed to this stuff from birth.

You take thins too seriously. Imagine you eating a chocolate bar and you want another but the wrapper says

Nope, I'd still stick with my Anker headphones that cost $25.00, have better sound quality, and an 18 hour on board battery life.

 

And I've actually run them dry in a single day, it is actually amazing to me that they have such a long battery life for their size and price.

No, if I needed the convenience of bluetooth in ear headphones, I'd go with the Sony WF-1000MX3, significantly better sound than airpods and they have better battery life.

No I they probably wouldn't exist to the same degree because there would probably still be headphone jacks, I have had wireless earbuds (mostly jaybirds for when I run or play basketball) since 2015 a year before airpods. But when I finally upgrade my phone in a year or two, I am going to have to buy a pair or samsung or google wireless earbuds.

I agree with you there, even though I havent tried anything wireless, I think I just wouldnt notice them fall out.
