RTX 3080 going for upwards of $75,000 on eBay!

Can we talk about this lol? I would've paid probably $100 more for it on eBay. Definitely wouldn't spend over $1500. I could just buy the 3090 for that price.

Although I do see a ton of sold pre-orders/cards for 1200 - 1600 USD and more as sold.

That's exactly the point and why they self-bid on alt accounts to legitimize the insane prices, or make sure nobody tries to buy it because most of them were listed before launch and they probably didn't get a card ordered. Click on "view bid history" and see for yourself. Better yet, just scroll up and look at the image I posted of the same account bidding over and over from $800 to $10,000....

Could very well be angry people about resellers, they were able to snag most, if not all of them. IMO it's fake bids to make sure they're not going to sell.

Good point and something I had not considered. It makes no sense to win your own auction, unless you don't actually want to sell it or don't have one to sell.

yeah, the only reason to have high bids like these (if you check the bids, it's between 2-3 accounts) is to artificially inflate the price. Could be the reseller, could be angry users that want to make sure resellers can't sell those cards (though, 2nd chances are a thing, so unless it's all fake bids, genuine early bids could be able to still buy the card).

there is one on the usa ebay that is almost over 100k, quite a few over 20k. scalpers are the worst, hope every listing they have gets some fake bids lol.

At those prices they might as well buy a DGX station from Nvidia.  It runs Linux, put a VM on it, allocate one of the GPU's to that and have all the power they'd ever need for any reasonable home computing use for the next 10 years.  

They could put the down payment on a $300k-$600k  house. 

 

The real reason for this is likely to have something out there that theoretically is equal to or greater than Big Navi in performance while not devaluing the 2000 series cards.  As long as 20 series cards are in stock  they will try to push them with very limited supply of 3000 series cards.

It's not self bidding. No one's stupid enough to think people would pay more than double, maybe triple the cards value. Once it it hits those kinds of numbers it's definitely fraudulent bidding.

That doesn't make any sense. Nvidia already sold the GPU package, they don't care if there's 2000 series on the shelf. That's the AIBs problem. This is a limited supply brought on, in part, by COVID. It's like people don't realize there's component shortages on a lot of things. There's also insane demand, which will stress any single manufacturer.

It's quite simple, ebay doesn't force you to buy after winning a bid.

You get a negative comment on your account if you don't, but that's it.

 

So these over the top bids aren't going to get cashed out, it's just a troll to the scalper who has to relist the item.

Don't worry, there will be stock eventually at a reasonable price, just wait a month or 2
