Do you take LTT for granted?

I've been a fan for years.  After the first handful of videos I happen across way back in the unboxing on a park bench days I've enjoyed slowly working through the back log of videos and watching the new ones daily over the years.  I think I can say with confidence I've seen every video on the main channel at least twice, some well into the double digits (<3 2 gamers 1 cpu)

I was thinking today just how much I look forward to the daily video.  I've spent 100's and 100's of hrs with Linus and the other hosts over the years and every-time I pull up a new video its like seeing an old friend again.

Maybe its this amazing beer I've been enjoying all Sunday afternoon talking (Thank you Ithica Brewery! <3) but despite of because of all of LTTs nerdy quirks I feel right at home.

To Linus and all the LTT staff thank you for doing what you do, and please don't ever stop.

I would like to think I don't take it for granted, but with the amount of time I spent watching their videos and browsing their forums, I probably don't throw out my appreciation enough.

Sadly I have never been had the inclination to donate financially to them (either financially it didn't work out or just I did not feel comfortable with it), but I have tried to be somewhat valuable by just being a member here and I have made some closed captions for a video or two. Hope that helps at least a bit, but that really doesn't pay back all the knowledge I have gotten from them!

in a world where nothing is constant, i feel so much joy in knowing 99% of the Staff at LTT are still working at LTT all these years later, and Linus hasn't been involved into any sort of outrage or any controversy that he can't back out of, remember how enraged was the "can't use this word because someone will report it" warriors attacking linus for stealing a tampon in that amazon video, that's as close to any controversy he's been in and youtube even defended him in a tweet. i'm just glad the channel exists and ever growing.

I enjoy watching it as long as I'm able to skip these sponsoring-parts, but I usually have a bucket full of salt next to me.

With being a new fan of anything PC (3 months or so) I can definitely say due to the videos from Linus it has gotten me to buy a PC. Still not to the point to where I want to build a full system but I am slowly working up to that. 
 

I could easily see myself if i was ever lucky enough to meet the company simply sitting back relaxing.

I've subscribed to LTT, TechLinked, and Tech Quickie and have been watching regularly for years now. I really appropriate all the effort that goes into their videos and that they've shown their audience how they get it done behind the scenes in a number of videos.

I'll admit it gets to be a bit of a nuisance, but I also understand with most people using ad-blockers on YouTube that in-video ads help to pay the bills. If you really hate it you can always pay the $5 a month for Floatplane. I guess you have to decide just how much you hate ads and if it's worth it to you.

I think it’s pretty cool!  I am uncomfortably aware that like all things on earth it is ephemeral.  I try to contribute what I can as far as support goes.  It’s less than I’d like.  I am uncomfortably aware i am amongst the least tech literate posters.  Mostly all I’ve got is old old stuff.  Things that haven’t changed.  Generally that seems to mean where analog meets digital.  Propeller technology was at its zenith at the end of world war 2 which means fan tech hasn’t changed much.  Fans have though.  I can occasionally be helpful there.  Air cooling a little.  Watercooling barely at all.  Windows10 I find mystifying and dangerous.  It changes things without telling you.  I really appreciate the ability to ask dumb questions.  It allows me to learn things.

I know if there's some sort of random piece of tech I need to be brought up to speed on they'll most likely have a video on it.

Honestly same here. i also have been watching since the park bench case reviews. 

and while i understand most of the changes they went through throughout their development as a company and just as people i still miss the old times. the dynamic between linus and luke, doing crazy projects and just winging it. 

idk taking them for granted though.

also i dont agree with the mainstream stuff that gotten more popular over the years. literally couldnt care less about a phone or notbook review unless they do weird stuff and watercool it or something.

It's been a long ride since then hasn't it. Ive enjoyed watching the journey that it took to create the LTT that we know today. But as to whether I take LTT for granted I don't know Id certainly miss it all if there was no more LTT but life would go on.

I'll admit it gets to be a bit of a nuisance, but I also understand with most people using ad-blockers on YouTube that in-video ads help to pay the bills. If you really hate it you can always pay the $5 a month for Floatplane. I guess you have to decide just how much you hate ads and if it's worth it to you.    

I’ve found the sponsorships to be much less obnoxious than YouTube’s actual ads.  Their new format of running several interminably long ads before showing a video which is occasionally longer than the actual video being watched is much more annoying than the sponsorships.  That cruise line thing it attempts to make me watch constantly is enough to make a body want to pull ones hair out.

Well although I completely love their videos on all channels and the forums etc, I haven't actually donated financially (apart from buying a few tshirts). However I completely agree that the over the top length ads that they run is a bit excessive - although as you said I don't mind the sponsorships and showcase videos (which are the only videos of theirs that I don't always watch). But I do feel bad sometimes for just taking their content for granted, you know, because it's just free on youtube even though the effort that goes into 1 video on ltt a day, ignoring the other channels, must be insane.

I would miss LTT if it was gone. I'm a big fan of LTT and I've only been watching for 2 years... it's what got me into pc building in the first place.

Well, I'm a fan. He's the reason why I learned how to build a PC. He is the first one I watched when I saw him in the recommended section of YT.

I would miss this forum if it vanished, I do not prefer LTT vidoes over Jayz or others personally.  Unless its Anthony.  Then we get cozy, maybe a cold drink and watch. dat. video.

I'm kinda meh with most of the videos they post... some of the 'presenters' are a little annoying to me and most of the humour is childish and not suited to grown adults... and I mean the presenters/writers making them... not the audience. It's kinda like making a dad joke that even thee rest of the dads think is lame. 

 

I kinda miss the old days where there was more of a sense of fun, I miss some of the old staff presenting videos and I wish the decent ones they do currently have would be allowed to make more.

 

But occasionally... in amongst all of the useless/pointless/stupid videos... there's a little gem that is very enjoyable.

 

Maybe I'm just getting a little cynical and jaded... maybe seeing a never ending stream of 'look at the great free shit I've been given and is going into my house' videos has turned me against the channel... Maybe it's that they no longer seem to have any understanding of the actual real world cost/value of things... why else do they keep gushing over the latest crap from razer, when they keep complaining about how bad the durability is... because they get it all for free, so don't give a crap about anything that the rest of us has to consider... like dropping a couple thousand on a laptop that is gonna break in 12-18 months, and having to deal with the shitty support... whilst they just get given the next version every 12 months so who cares if it breaks... we'll still gush over how great the shitty quality is.

 

So I don't think I take them for granted... I think I just see through the bullshit now. Out of all of the YT tech channels I follow... the only one I give any real credence to is J2C... The rest come across as entitled and privileged more than they don't.

I sometimes don't realize how much time I spend with the entire LTT crew, I took a few steps back from the forums to focus on my life and coming back .. just this I missed!

 

LTT is part of my daily routine, my breakfast is spent watching TL (If there's one to watch), if not a main channel or TQ is great to wake up to and soak up some knowledge before leaving for work

 

What I can honestly say is that Linus sparked my career, I had interests in IT before but after Linus got me deeper into this crazy world back in 2013 it became a passion and now even my job.

 

The way I do my job is can closely resemble what is seen on the channel, mishaps & "duct tape engineering" included lol

 

 

So yeah, a giant thank you to everyone at LTT now & everyone who over the years left or became less prominent

He's honest and you can tell because of how transparent he is. He never filters himself, and I think it would be impossible for anyone to move and talk as quickly as he does while filtering themselves. If he was a shady guy, something would've slipped. 

 

But no he has his camera crew follow him all over his entire property and seemingly without any concern for what's seen or what's said.

I have been watching LTT Since 2014 and Linus and the rest of the team have provided me with so much information and ideas on things I would like to try myself that they have kept my weekends and evening busy, not just with watching all new videos but trying out some of the 'crazy' ideas they come up with (2 Games 1 CPU for example) built this on older hardware to save space (did the job well).

 

Linus and Team keep up the good work 'Floatplane' needs some more exclusive content but I am signed up and enjoying. Also I release how long it takes to make some of thee videos and I am sure I speak for most of if not all of the community when I say 'we really appreciate the work that you guys do'. 

 

Side note - some more behind the sense stuff would be good as your team has a good working dynamic

I dont take it for granted; to me the videos are just a entertaining bonus that come with the forums though (instead of other way around);

 

The biggest ltt accomplishment to me is the forums, this must be the friendliest, most helpfull and combined most knowledgable community on the web.

 

I appreciate every day what ltt has build (and is maintaining by friendly and proffesional moderation) here; as the rest of the internet where people can interact seems like a cespool compared to this place.

 

So a big thanks to ltt team and all and any volunteers involved, and of course also to "you" fellow community members!
