Are glasses waterproof? Can I wear my new glasses in rain?

I didn’t ask when buying them and now I think 

 

can I wear my glasses in heavy rain? Will it wreck the coating? It has like a blue tint I think anti glare? 

 

Same for sunglasses. I remember getting some of my sunglasses not prescription glasses wet on Holliday once and the green and blue tint smudged and stained look bad. Unless it was just how I dried them with tissue?

Those sunglasses smudged from salt water from sea/ocean or from salty/greasy sweat and or sunscreen creams. And probably not even permanently, you'd just have to properly clean them with microfiber cloth and display/monitor cleaning solution which helps with the grease.

 

You can use glasses in any conditions, they'll just get dirty and you'll have to clean them. That's all.

The coating came off those because it was cheap. The biggest thing that destroys cheap coatings is UV light. Just use a microfiber cloth and glasses cleaner to clean them. Otherwise glasses are waterproof and the coating is basically baked on in a sense.

Alright. Let's break this down. We need to know the following to appropriately answer your question, rather than giving shots in the dark:
Operating Material: Plastic or Metal frame? Further reading: https://www.aao.org/eye-health/glasses-contacts/eyeglass-frame-materials

Central Observation Unit's speed? Eyes supply? Memory storage capacity and speed? Without these necessary, important, and 100% measurable identifiers we can't know for certain. You will need to play some certified brain games to ensure you measure your data as accurately as possible.


Kidding aside, given how you gave us your graphics card basic lenses info, I'll address that part for you briefly:
AR coatings eliminate reflections in lenses that reduce contrast and clarity, especially at night. They make your lenses nearly invisible, so you can make better eye contact and you aren't distracted by reflections. AR-coated lenses also don't have glare spots in photographs as often.

The coatings in sunglasses are generally cheap, and are destroyed overtime due to UV rays from the sun. When in water those UV rays get amplified, causing the coatings to get rekt faster.

Meanwhile, you may wish to use a cycling cap or simply pocket the glasses when it rains to ensure that you can see appropriately, as glasses fog up pretty badly in the rain unless they're polarized glasses.

If you pocket the glasses you may get water/rain in the eye.  We all know how eyes melt when wet.

Not in heavy rain, not when you're swimming... Wiping your glasses with microfiber cloth may be something you'll have to live with as long as you have your pair.

Yes, they're "waterproof". I'd just be sure to clean them afterwards to get any dirt, minerals, etc.. off of them.

I've been wearing glasses everyday for almost 20 year and I can tell you they are indeed water proof. However they are not rated to survive a fall from off the side of The Grand Canyon, ask me how I know.

Same here...never had an issue with water...sometimes it's actually nice to get some rain on em...forces a cleaning and voila...improved vision!

I give mine a good wipe down every morning. I can't stand to have any build up on them, it's to distracting.

Same here...and I work as an auto mechanic...need to see what I'm clearly...even if I have to work via braille cause sometimes...you can't even get eyes on what your trying to fix!
