I can't lie, I never understood why they let that stuff fly in the first place. I mean, I don't agree with them removing it at all, but it shocked me they kept stuff like that up for this long.

i mean, this forum has the same rule.

i know what they're trying to get at (and agree with that part), but there will be a lot of "innocent" videos caught in the crossfire

I believe that sharing hacking and security tutorials is a good way to strengthen our community. Blocking these videos is more likely to stop any would-be newcomers from becoming interested in pursuing the field.

I believe they are well within their rights to do so. However I must admit that I've gotten quite a few bits of software from "hacking tutorials."

Hacking is also an informative topic, it shows what exploits were in existing code and what was used to bypass it.

Documenting these flaws, for better or for worse, still helps improve future software avoid these flaws.

I think it entirely depends on what they're demonstrating. If it could be malicious then I can totally agree with it, but if not it's total bullshit.

What does "hacking tutorials" actually include? Modding? Is it just software or does it also include hardware? Does it exclude non-malicious content or is it just a blanket ban?

Too many questions to properly form an opinion, just yet.

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Yeah, I tried to get into hacking and I couldn't really get started so I had to go to other places to learn. This is exactly what would be hackers do in the first place so removing youtube wont do anything.

No, It's too vague, what do you define as hacking?

A mod is a hack too

changing some .ini and registration files is a hack too

The first step to better ones security is to acknowledge that there is a problem. If you do not know that a certain hack is possible how can you ever do something against it?

AMD 5900x, 2x16GB ( G.skill F4-3600C16 ), Radeon VII, Radeon 570,  Corsair 1200i , SSD 240/500GB, HDD 640GB,1TB,5TB, 1TB NVME. Lian li 011Dyanmic XL, big ass LTT mouse-pad & stealth water bottle

The problem is Google sells devices, they own YouTube, a platform where people can learn their devices can be hacked easily. This is just one reason I acknowledge that this is not why they did it but it is certainly a plus for google. As I originaly stated I don't know too much about the definition and wording of the new ToS but I personally do not agree with it. Regardless everyone else please give your honest unbiased opinion regardless of what you see down here.

I like to code and hack. Since when did the word hacking gets hijacked to mean unauthorized access to a computer?

For quite some time now its meant that as well as to fiddle with or modify, Many words have dual meanings in this sense,  it's just he way language evolves and grows.  If there is a problem then people should just change their titles and message to use words like modifying and customizing rather than the term hacking.

Language changes and evolves, words become popular and sometimes attract a negative use or definition along the way,  there is nothing we can do about it except adjust and move on.

EDIT: as for the topic at hand, I don't really give a fuck what youtube do, the system is messed up beyond any real control and if it ceased to be a thing tomorrow I wouldn't loose sleep.  In fact I think the world might be a better place.  And as far as music is concerned we might even see album sales go up again.  Which would be good for artists.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

hacking can be used both for good and evil, its not meant to be bad, its like banning code lessons on youtube because people can make a virus after knowing how to code,so no i don't agree with youtube

I am a teenager learning to code guess what got me into coding! Hacking, hacking made me want to make a virus. After I made some fairly advanced viruses for windows I wanted to make an app and I’m currently looking at machine learning

It depends, if they go brain dead and start removing Mods and Trainers then I see a problem with it.

The irony is that the real "hacking" is not shown to the public until it's not useful anymore.
