will xbox 2 be at 2080 ti level?

Dehaka

they said its 4 TIMES FASTER THAN X1X. x1x is around 1070 performance, so 4 times that is 2x 2080 ti performance, which i highly doubt. but will it at least be on par with 1 2080 ti for $499?

Marketing fluff. If they pull off 2080 ti perf I'd literally be amazed, but that's totally unprecedented and unrealistic.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Especially if Microsoft wants to keep a lower price.

How? I mean it's sort of close in FP32, but that's not directly related to gaming performance.

No way. If that's the case Radeon Technologies Group (RTG) won't struggle against Nvidia with Vega and Navi at all.

X1X is closer to a 580.

It's marketing nonsense. There's no Navi chip out right now that's remotely close to the 2080 Ti. Only the 2070.

Did they specifically say what is 4 times faster? Because I don't recall them saying the GPU is specifically 4 times faster. It could be the CPU alone is 4 times faster. It could be they benchmarked the entire system and the score came out to be 4 times higher. Or they could do something stupid like say the bandwidth of storage or memory is 4 times faster.

So unless they said only the GPU was 4 times faster, there's nothing to go off of.

EDIT: Okay, found the offending comment:

They said "from a pure processing perspective", which is very vague. At best it's just the performance difference from data in vs. data out, which would be for the entire system, not specifically the GPU.

EDIT 2: This is also the same video where they said "an SSD and solid state drive" and claims that the GPU has hardware accelerated ray tracing which as far as we know is not on Navi. I mean, maybe the consoles have a special version that has hardware accelerated RT on it, or they consider running RT on the GPU itself hardware accelerated regardless if it runs on the compute cores or a dedicated RT accelerator.

Either way, marketing clearly wrote the script here.

What on earth are you smoking? The Xbox One X's GPU is between a RX 580 and a GTX 980:

Again what the hell are you smoking xD A single 2080 TI MSRPs for $1,200. AMD hasn't even DISCUSSED having a GPU that can go toe to toe with the 2080 Ti, the highest they have is the Radeon VII which is on 2080 levels. Even their newest arch, Navi, is only at 2070 levels of performance. Do you really think that AMD would ship a console part that has an even better GPU without also creating a comparable dedicated GPU for the PC market??? Use your brain bro...

Not even close.

The next gen of Consoles will likely stay within the $400-600 range, so they'd be lucky to be maybe 2070 levels, if that.

It's around 1060 performance. And absolutely not. I'm sure they just found one thing it's 4x better at, and used that to make the technically accurate statement that it's 4x more powerful.

The Xbox One X is using an RX 580 (+4 CUs). Last I checked, the GTX 1070 beats the RX 580.

The next-gen Xbox is using Navi, which if Microsoft wants to stay within a price range consumers would tolerate a box under their TV at, is probably cut-down from desktop Navi. and closer to RTX 2060 performance, but we don't know yet.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Exactly my thoughts. Simply no way it will be at 2080ti level. probably not even 2080 level. The GPU is not the only component in a console, lets say it costs $300/500 for the entire consoles cost just on the GPU (which it definetly doesn't, this is a very high estimate), a 2080ti is like $1200. Thats a minimum 400% price to performance increase in 18 months and AMD doesn't even have a GPU that can compete with a 2080ti in the first place nevermind making one thats 400% cheaper. And its not like they can finish the GPU design in 18 months, the GPU/CPU of that system is probably already designed and done and the product ships then. No way.

People still don't understand how consoles work... You can't just compare raw HW specs and call it a day. It was similar on PC for a short while. Anyone who owned S3 graphics card around 1999-2000 knows what I mean. I had crappy S3 Savage3D 8MB and I could run almost any Unreal based game at 1024x768 with all settings maxed out. But only when using S3 Metal API. With D3D and OGL it was far worse experience and required RivaTNT2 or Voodoo 3 at the time. It's a similar thing with consoles. There is just ONE hardware configuration and games are super optimized for that hardware configuration.

The main reason consoles started struggling was memory since they ran most of stuff from optical disc and had to preload it before it was needed. And because of pricing of consoles, they never had tons of RAM. That is changing slightly as engines are more optimized to stream resources as they are needed through actual game levels and better utilize what they have available. And if they could do a lot with low to mid end hardwrae in terms of PC specs, new Xbox for example is much better equiped with much newer HW than usual. I just wonder what the price will be because of this...

Nice spammity spam. And @manchild no, the Xbox Project Scarlet won't live up to the performance hype Microsoft is advertising it at - in fact, I'd be surprised if we don't start seeing class action lawsuits against game console manufacturers claiming their consoles run at 8K 120Hz, considering PC's can't do that yet.

It would be nice. If I remember correctly, the Xbox 360 was technically better than PC GPUs on release, but it was super rushed to market.

I seriously doubt their claims, its just too much to cover in so little time it just doesn't seem possible.

I think its just vaporware right now, much like the Mad Box console teased some time ago by Slightly Mad Studios which had pretty similar claims but nothing to back it up.

You don't have settings on consoles because that would defeat the purpose. The purpose of consoles is that games just work and are exactly as intended by developer without any fiddling and tweaking. And that is only when game is designed for PC and then for console.
