i7-9700K overclocked to 5.5Ghz on all cores spotted on Chinese website. Scores 1827 in Cinebench.

The not yet offically announced CPU reached a score of 1827 in Cinebench.

This was possible with watercooling and a core voltage of 1.536, which makes it only suitable for benchmark tries, not for daily driving..

An Asrock Profesional Gaming Z370 board was used to achieve the all-core overclock.

---Edit---

For an all-core overclock this seems to be very promising. You would expect this from a cherry-picked CPU, or maybe with a chiller or a little LN2.

If a 5.5 Ghz overclock is possible with watercooling (might be a lot of watercooling) then a 5.2-5.3 Ghz overclock with a more reasonable voltage is more at reach for normal users.

Also, it shows that the soldering of the IHS is really delivering very good thermal performance, which in return let's users keep their warranty but still be able to overclock to a high degree, which is very nice indeed.

How the thermals keep up with the 8-core 16-thread i9-9900K remains to be seen, but these results look very promising.

It might just be possible for the i9-9900K to have at least the same overclocks as seen with i7-8700K, but with added multithreaded performance.

---Edit2--

It seems that the + in i5+, i7+ and i9+ not only means that it is optane compatible, but that you will even get a (small) optane drive to go with the CPU

1.536 volts is probably too much for daily driving this chip. That's on opinion.

I had thought voltage limits wasn't based on heat alone but also silicon limits.

Well seeing as the majority of the discussion on the new threads are people's opinion on the news it makes sense that the original poster add their opinion in the post.

That single core score though... Looks promising, then again the gold is on the 8c/16t instead which sadly will be nearly double the price it seems solely to enable HT and 3mb of extra level 3 cache.

Who else thinks that i9-9900K is capable of at least i7-8700K speeds, now that this news is out?

How do you feel about an i7-8700K with 2 more cores and 4 more threads?

Who thinks this chip is cherry-picked?

Although voltage causes heat and heat causes chip degradation, so does voltage in the absence of heat. I wouldn't run that voltage outside of benchmarks.

HAH

no it won't, the i7 doesn't even have hyperthreading. It will most likely be a hyperthreaded 6 core.

Looks right.

Is this the 8c/8t? Because that is quite a weaksauce score if it is 8c/16t.

I could not find that. I was looking everywhere except the bottom right corner so I figured out it must be under the censored part.

Seems low to me, my 1700 @3.9 I've had 1723 in Cinebench, and was only around 1.28-1.3Vcore IIRC. I would have thought a 1.6Ghz per core faster CPU with same core/thread count would score quite a bit more than that.

[edit] Just saw that this is 8/8 instead of 8/16, In that case it's a fantastic score. I thought the 9700k was supposed to be 8/16.

Ehh, stick a 212 evo on it, give it sustainable voltage, and then start showing off numbers. This means very little in the real world.
